Setting up a SLS in advance of co-location
I am about to set up a MacMini Server in advance of it being co located at a hosting house here in London.
I need to deliver the Mini to them ready to plug in and go. They've already provided me with a static IP and router addresses
I've already set up one Mini server in my home office, so am not too daunted - but do have a small concern which I am wondering if someone could help me with :
- I would like to connect it to my office network whilst I am setting it up so I can install all the updates / transfer files to it easily. However this would mean attaching it to my DHCP server which would assign it a local IP address.
Is it safe to do this, then just manually change the IP address when I have finished ? Or is it likely to screw up my DNS settings ? I was planning on giving it the correct hostname from the start - and setting up DNS on the server to resolve correctly - both forward and reverse.
Should I configure a two ethernet connections in System Preferences>Network then delete one of them when set up and running ?
Any help or advice much appreciated !

Andrew
