IPad Keeps restarting

From the moment I turned on my brand new IPad, it would randomly restart. No, it doesn't just go to sleep, it restarts - apple logo and all. There is no observable trigger and even though I said it was random there may actually be predictable time intervals - just not sure at this point.

I am in contact with tech support on this. There initial suggestion to reinstall the OS didn't work. It may be time to box it up and send it back.

If you've reset to factory settings and it still does it, I'd return it.
To reset go to Settings, General, Reset, Erase All Content and Settings. Warning: This will delete all data on the ipad.

It's not likely that itsblenkinsopp will respond to this thread as his last visit was in February and I doubt that he still receives email notifications about the thread. If your iPad is less than one year old, it is still under warranty and you would be best served letting an Apple tech or authorized service center do any repairs to your device.

this is certain to be hardware related, I completely erased mine and it still happens, frequency is increasing to the point where it only stays on for a minute or less. sending mine back to apple today...

Restore as new, if problem persists contact apple as it is a hardware fault.

I recently had an Ipad (original Ipad) replaced under the Apple Care warranty. Fortunately I bought the Apple Care warranty as about 2 months after the 1 year original warranty ended, I got a black screen that wouldn't reboot. I could faintly see the Ipad logo if I held it up to light but it didn't work.

I brought it back to the store and they replaced it with a refurbished Ipad (also the same Ipad original model). A few weeks of using it and it keeps restarting same as everyone else described. I deleted all the content and set up as new Ipad but still restarting every 5-10 minutes.

I'll take it back and hopefully they replace this one as well. Very frustrating as this is the 2nd Ipad to go bad. I have the Ipad 2 and Ipad 3 and very happy and never problems but it seems there are many problems with problems for the original Ipad.

I'm glad the Apple Care will run until December 2012 as I have a feeling this might happen again.
