Garageband won't let me use my line input to record
I don't have an audio interface yet so I figured i could just use my line input. Of course at first it just did the built-in mic so i switched that through system preferences. I also switched that in garageband. But even after I switched it in both of them it still didn't work. I can see a line level inside of system preferences, so I know that the input works but within Garageband it doesn't recognize it at all.
Please help me out so that I can get some awesome recordings started.
Well we tried it again today and at first we plugged an amp line out. For some reason that wasn't giving an answer in the system preferences. So we tried it again straight out of the guitar and into the mac. That gave a strong signal.
Next we went to garageband. Went to preferences. Went to Audio/Midi. Changed Audio input from built-in mic to built in line input. Next we made an audio track and selected our input. We tried stereo input, and both of the mono inputs but none of them could give me a signal.
Well it seems that I didn't get a level because the level was being boosted through an amp, so it was too strong for the laptop. Hope it didn't do any real damage. Thanks for the help guys.
