Photos not syncing into events

My initial sync of photos piled everything into 1 large group. The event structure on my iMAC was not preserved. The photos themselves are fine they're just a bit hard to locate.

Doesn't seem right?

3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB, 27" iMAC, Mac OS X (10.6.2), iPAD, App TV

What are your selections under the Photos tab for your iPad sync preferences with iTunes?

Well, they were

All photos, albums, events, and faces
Last 12 months (under Albums)

but then I tried Selected albums, events, and faces and automatically include the 20 most recent events

re-sync'ed and this fixed it.
