K9 Web protection migration causes huge problem

I recently bought a new computer and migrated the old computers "stuff" to it...including K9 web protection. I've since found out (via their forums) that doing so corrupts k9's file structure and makes the program not recognize the password (which you also need to uninstall the program). So now I have a brand new computer that can't access the internet.

K9 has an unresolved thread on their forums that was opened in Januaray 2010. Unresolved for 6 months! And their support has been nil. I reported the problem two days ago and have heard nothing from them.

Does anyone know how to get around this or uninstall it?

imac G5, Mac OS X (10.5.6)

Your profile info indicates a G5 w/Leopard. Please add the details of your new machine and its OS. If recently means within a week or so, then the best thing to do is boot with the new machine's install disc, erase the internal HD, reinstall the OS, and, when the setup assistant pops up, migrate from the G5, However, uninstall the K9 web protection app from the G5 before hooking it up to the new machine. Once the new machine restarts, pop in the other discs that came with the machine reinstall all the other other apps that came with it. Run Software Update and update to the latest offerings. Finally, reinstall the K9 stuff on the G5. That should put everything in its proper place.

New computer is brand new 27" iMac with OS X 10.6.3. 4GB RAM, 3.06 Ghz.

I do not have anymore my former G5 mac (which crashed anyway after 5 years of use). I only have my brand new iMac, with the migration from my G5 already done. I have the same problem: K9 Web prohibiting me to use internet, which brings the value of my brand new iMac almost to zero, especially for my kids who cannot use anymore internet. I guess this problem may already affect - or will affect in the near future - hundreds, if not thousands, of iMac buyers.
I am really concerned by the solution proposed (i.e. erase the HD and reinstall everything) since I understand I will loose all the files that were migrated from the former G5, which I do not have anymore. Can you advice? I have an external back-up hard drive available (2 TB).
