Can't find scanner in Photoshop CS5

Recently, I have had to upgraded to a new Mac Pro /Tower & also had to upgrade all my programs/ apps. I can't seem to get my scanner to work through Adobe Photoshop CS5. [I have a CanoScan LiDE 30.]

I've downloaded all upgrades and have read about similar problems other users have had (on other discuss sites). I came across a discussion about a missing plug-in CS5 was missing.
From the Adobe website, I downloaded, what was said to be the missing plug-in [PSCS5OptionalPlugins Mac_enUS] and have tried placing it in different folders all over the place (with restarts) & it either is in the wrong place(s) or its just crap.

Does anyone know which folder this plug-in goes or knows anything about it?

In the mean time I down loaded the canon toolbox (from the Canon website) and have been scanner to the desktop. It works, but there is no extras, just a scan and at optional dpi's.

If anyone else has had this problem, please let me know if you were able to fix it.

OR if you know of a scanner that works well in CS5. THX!!

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.3), Adobe Photoshop CS5

This unfortunately hasn't help me 😟

Does anyone have any more ideas?

I have an Epson Perfection 1250. Using Preview doesn't seem to create a very high quality scan, so am trying to get something that integrates with Photoshop as it has worked for me well in the past in earlier versions. I am now trying to update my computer with software that helps me to use my scanner with Photoshop CS5. Will be great to hear back from you.

I had the same problem. I downloaded all the right stuff from Canon, found the latest TWAIN on the Adobe site and put it into the Photoshop CS5 Plugins folder. Nothing. Zip, Butkis. No recogmition. After a couple of hours of frustration, I remembered that you have to have the scanner turned off when the software is installed. After uninstall, then off with the scanner, I reinstalled the CanoScan driver and the Toolbox. This worked (in 32 bit mode for PS CS5).

HOWEVER! It only scanned 2 pages then locked my Mac up so tight I didn't even have a curser to force quit! This happened twice.

Workaround: Use CanoScan Toolbox 5.0 and check the box (under scanner settings (in the Photo1) that says "Display Scanner Driver." You will get the advanced scanner screen with all the options.

HOWEVER #2! In CS3, the scanner gave me the option of scanning multiple pages before going to Photoshop. This was a big time saver. Although the check box is still there in the settings, it doesn't work. So it is one page at a time now.

anitaburns, are you using Mac or Windows platform.

If you are using windows XP, here's one which works for me:

I have Canoscan 5000F which could not be recognised on CS5 photoshop. You need to run Photoshop CS5 in 32 bit.

Try this:

Go to Adobe website download:

http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/thankyou.jsp?ftpID=4688&fileID=4376

1) Download this zip folder: PSCS5OptionalPlugins Win_enUS.zip

(go to the Zip folder that is for Mac, if you are using Mac platform)

2) Unzip the folder... Go to Program Files folder and look for Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS5/Plug-ins folder

3) Extract all the file to Program File/Adobe/ Adobe Photoshop CS5/Plug-ins

4) If you see the following files in the Plug-ins folder, (they are 64 bit files), or delete them off if you not having 64 bit devices

ExtractPlus.8BF
Optional MultiPlugin.8BF
PatternMaker.8BF
PhotomergeUI.8BF
Alias.8BI
Sgirb.8bi
SoftImage.8Bi
ContactSheetII.8LI

Start Photoshop CS5 and click File... Import: you should see your scanner
