How do you print a trifold brochure?

I designed a tri-fold brochure using one of Pages' built-in templates. However, when I go to print and choose "duplex printing" (Canon MX860), the inside of the brochure is upside down.

How do I print so that it comes out right?

Mac Pro (Early 2008) 2.8Ghz, Mac OS X (10.6.2), 10 GB RAM, 23" ACD, lots of storage!

Sounds like the Canon's printer driver's duplexing is inverted.

You'll have to test print one side, and manually feed it back into the printer. Do this with a sample page where you have marked the leading top edge with a pencil or pen to see which way the printer actually applies the image to paper.

There are no adjustments you can make in your Page Setup…? Look under paper handling.

Duplex printing works as expected on my Canon with normal output (i.e text that reads from top to bottom of the page). You just turn the page over and keep reading, without having to rotate it or anything. Normal.

There is a "reverse page orientation" option in the Layout section of the driver, but that reverses both pages which is not the desired outcome. I just need to reverse the second page.

The tri-fold brochure is not a portrait document like most text documents, it is landscape.

Sounds like the driver hasn't correctly got the rotation in-printer to maintain the head of the document on a common side.

I can visualise what it is doing. It is passing the paper in head first 1st side, then backing it out from the top of the feed roller, so the printed side is now on top and the foot is now first, then pulls it back in to print the underside, which is now unfortunately rotated 180°. This should have been fixed in software.

You can quickly test that using any Text document in landscape. You should give Canon feedback.

I would run a plain test sheet through the printer with a mark on the facing leading edge and left hand edge to see exactly how the printer is handling the paper on the double pass.
