Mine is an original iphone; no longer under warrantee... sooooo I have done everything. Next I completely deleted itunes and removed and reinstall the Apple Mobile Device Service on Mac OS X. I am still getting the -1601 error when trying to restore and yes I am stuck in DFU mode now and iTunes just keeps giving me this error...update when I've tried more.

I have been battling this for two days. I have done every thing I can think of holding down the buttons to put it in dfu mode, recreating ipsw files, 1. Disconnect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod from the Mac.
2. In the Finder, locate iTunes in the Applications folder and drag it to the Trash.
3. Move the iTunes icon to the Trash.
4. Choose Go > Go to Folder.
5. Enter /System/Library/Extensions and click Go.
6. Locate the file AppleMobileDevice.kext and drag it to the Trash.
7. Choose Go > Go to Folder.
8. Enter /Library/Receipts/ and click Go.
9. Locate the file AppleMobileDeviceSupport.pkg and drag it to the Trash. If prompted, authenticate with the administrator password.
10. Restart the computer.

and still no luck. 1601 error or 1600 error and all the help says to do the above when this happens and I have done that twice. When I plug the iphone directly into the wall it just hangs at the apple and does the intermittent flashy thing. VERY ANNOYING. Anyone have any other ideas? I know its the phone as other iphones are able to sync to this mac just fine.
