Scroll bar randomly missing from websites.

I just saw this again today.

Actually when visiting this website there was no scroll bar on the right hand side of the browser window. The text was cut off at the bottom and the only way to scroll was to highlight text and drag the cursor to the bottom of the screen. Quitting Safari and relaunching, restored the scroll bars.

I’d like to keep from having this happen as I have to re-login to all open tabs that require login. And it is generally a p i t a.

The following was submitted by Barry H. two years ago, and it worked for me.

"Try clearing the cache and trashing the preference file (com.apple.safari.plist) and then restarting."

Safari behaved for a long time after I did this procedure. (I can't remember if I just restarted Safari or the Mac -- it was probably the Mac itself.) Hope this helps someone.

This worked for me - thanks!

At first it worked perfectly but then I noticed it looked like it disappeared again. I found out that if I moved the curson over to the left a hair until it turns into an "arrow" and clicked, the scroll bar re-appeared. Annoying as heck because I hate the skinny scroll bar to begin with but to catch it is even more perturbing. >:-(

Perhaps I am blind but the thread says problem solved but I am not seeing the solution. For me specifically on Linkedin there is NO scroll bar available on the page and in Mac 10.4.1. and Safari 4,1.3 there is no general option in preferences anywhere to be found that offers scroll always on. Any more exact assistance available please??

2015 and this is still going on. It happens on any browser. i already went to system preferences and selected to always display scrollbars. For some reason this only happens when I log on to my online college course. I will be in the middle of an exam and I find myself having to relaunch the browser right in the middle of the exam and its just a nightmare, time is wasted and it affects the whole process. Someone from apple please fix this!
