Hello everyone, i hoping to be an Ipad user in the near future and i have a question about the 3G. As a UK user... if i brought a 3G sim card and then went on holiday or anywhere other than the UK. Would i still remain connected to the 3G network or any other network other than wifi?

Yes if you use the same one but it going to cost you. Why get a local one this way it will cost you less.
I do apologise but im still a bit confused... The UK 3G plans availible are local therefore my options. Will using these will mean i can use 3G abroad even if its out of the advertised coverage for that company?
You can ask your carrier if they offer an international data plan. In the US, AT&T offers an expensive international roaming plan in addition to their domestic plans.
You can look for a local data plan in your destination country and get a micro-sim and plan from that carrier.
You can get a multiple-country micro-sim and data plan like this: http://www.maxroam.com/Shop/Product/Detail.aspx?ProductId=787

Does the three network offer these, if not would i be able to apply for a seperate network under the same sim card?
Contact Three and inquire.

If you want to use another carrier's plan, you would have to purchase that carrier's micro-sim.

Thanks. by the looks of it Three do provide coverage for phones and dongles abroad however if its at extra cost i do not know. I will enquire soon.
Thanks for your help.
Thanks for your help.
As it turns out they do provide international coverage for an extra price. Does anyone know if the transaction is completed over the Ipad and using the three card or does it need to be instore/online with a new sim card?

50MB for around $100? AT&T charges $59.99 for 50 MB.
Some helpful information I have discovered while motorhoming and boating throughout the US & Canada.
traveling internet for my laptop / Iphone 3g and now Ipad 3g.
I purchased a virgin mobile mifi hotspot for $149.00 Radio Shack USA $40/Month unlimited usage, pay as you go (they now have changed to 5 Gigs at full speed, and slow you down if you exceed 5 GB in the current month).
A small external device that allows up to 5 connections within a 40 foot range.
Charge it up and it is good for 8 hrs standby and 4 hours usage.
When I travel in Canada, I switch to my rogers mifi hardware and get similar rates for travel in Canada. (I don't know if Rogers offer pay as you go)
I am now conflicted on buying a 3g ipad or non 3g and simply continue with the usage of my virgin and rogers mifi's.
I may travel abroad and neither my virgin mifi or rogers mifi (rogers has a roaming agreement with ATT USA, very expensive tho) will not work and therefore am in the same predicament as you should I travel to Mexico, the Bahamas or England.
Now for my question....
Can I buy a mifi device that allows me to switch sim cards to the respective countries and buy local time? rather than possibly paying $150 for each piece of hardware.
Thanks,
