Unlimited plan on iPad 3G

I ordered my iPad on May 24, and received it today, June 7. It did indeed offer me the option to choose the $29.99 unlimited plan, which I promptly did!

Evidently, the info posted on the Apple Store site about ORDERING before June 6 was a fact. I was afraid that I would have had to ACTIVATE the iPad prior to June 6 for the unlimited plan to be available.

Just my personal experience, and I hope this answers some concerns that some have had about the availability of the unlimited plan.

Thanks, when my iPad is delievered I'm sure it won't have the unlimited option, I'll call that number.

Ditto - waited just over an hour after calling. The gal I spoke with was friendly & super-efficient. Have your AT&T registered e-mail address handy, and your IMEI from Settings > About.

They're working as fast as they can -- give them a quick "thank you & hang in there!" at the end of the call.

i got through as well. Took an hour and 4 minutes. Really no reason to have to jump through this hoop. I'm convinced ATT hates their customers.

Just got off the phone with ATT. 49 minutes from start to finish. About 45 of them waiting on hold. Rep was as friendly as could be and got the job done with no hiccups. Make sure your iPad and Credit Card are handy when your on hold. They will have you register for the "cheap" 3G plan then switch you over to the Unlimited when you get a "Cellular Data Number". It may take a restart for the CDF field to populate.

Yay!!!! That worked! I called AT&T iPad Activation Support at 1-866-640-5125 and waited about 45 minutes. Then, I got a very helpful rep who immediately switched me over to the unlimited plan without any further problems.

The wait was long, but the service rep was unbelievably kind and helpful.

I don't think AT&T completely goofed up on this one. They needed to protect their scam of getting rid of unlimited data plans for people that bought after June 6 DEADline.

Kudos to the reps. that are doing their best on such a massive call volume they were not prepared for. BOOOO to AT&T.

By the way, I questioned my AT&T rep about the unlimited data plan and the "no contract" feature of the iPad 3G.

She said as long as I don't change to the lower tier plans, I can "turn on and off" the unlimited data plan whenever I wanted.

And keep the credit card on file current with AT&T otherwise, it's poof forever!

I'm in the same boat, ordered on June 5, but no option for unlimited data plan. I'm on hold now trying to get the unlimited plan activated. I've been waiting about 35 minutes so far...will post an update once I have some results!

Where is the option to temporarily stop the plan? The only option is the 250MB, 2GB and Cancel Plan. That word scares me. I am sure once you cancel it, the unlimited option will not be there anymore. They even said if anything gets disrupted like credit card, it will be cancelled and I will lose to the option to sign up for the unlimited again. I think you better double check with whoever you spoke to regarding this manner.
