Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply
ask a new question.
I ordered my iPad on May 24, and received it today, June 7. It did indeed offer me the option to choose the $29.99 unlimited plan, which I promptly did!
Evidently, the info posted on the Apple Store site about ORDERING before June 6 was a fact. I was afraid that I would have had to ACTIVATE the iPad prior to June 6 for the unlimited plan to be available.
Just my personal experience, and I hope this answers some concerns that some have had about the availability of the unlimited plan.
I also finally received the ipad i ordered on june 3rd today....I talked to apple, they sent me to ATT...They gave me a case number and said they'd get back to me...
This is so frustrating. I was so excited and now I am afraid I'll have to return it.
I briefly spoke with someone at Apple, who then transferred me to AT&T. After waiting about 10 seconds, my call was... Dropped! "We're Sorry. The call you have made has been unable to be completed", or something to that effect. I don't even know what AT&T number to call. Guess I'll have to go to wireless support.
Should I activate my iPad using another plan, in the mean time? Given this scenario, It may be a long time before I could otherwise use it.
Ordered my iPad on June 4th. That is BEFORE June 7th.
Received the iPad on July 21th.
Unlimited data option is unavailable on my iPad.
AT@T will not help since they say unlim. data plan is unavailable at this time.
Apple says is not their problem.
Ended up signing up for the 2gb plan
What a rip off, scam and a lie. Way to go AT@T !

Correction: iPad was ordered on June 4th, sorry for the typo.
I ordered my iPad on 6/5 and it is due on 6/23. From what you are all telling me they are either not going to honor their commitment for unlimited data or they're going to make you go through h*ll to get it.
I think I'm not even going to open it when it gets here and bring it to the local Apple store for a refund.
I have been on hold for a total of 1 hour, with AT&T, waiting to get to the bottom of this. I have posted on AT&T's Support forum, Facebook wall, and here. All in effort to try to get what we were promised!
After holding for about 50 minutes, a very kind woman named Linda took care of all my problems in about 5 minutes. I am now activated with an Unlimited Data plan. Good Job making things right, AT&T.
What number did you call? You're the first person I've heard who has been able to get the unlimited activated without it being an option on your iPad.
Also, I may have spoken too soon about returning my iPad before I open it. Saw this from Engadget:
Even though AT&T's $30 unlimited data plan technically went the way of the dodo back on June 7, the company had assured 3G iPad owners that they'd be entitled to one last hurrah -- buy an iPad prior to the 7th and you'd be allowed to grandfather into the old plan, even if you didn't receive your purchase by the deadline. Problem is, the unlimited plan option finally disappeared off AT&T-connected iPads for the first time today, leaving some of these eligible folks who haven't yet signed up for 3G data in the lurch. Not to worry, though: AT&T says that everyone who's eligible "will be able to select the unlimited plan" and that "details will follow." In other words, we don't know how this is going to work yet, but at least the carrier's aware of the issue. Stay tuned.
I was equally frustrated. And there is no excuse for it to have happened. But, They are trying to make it right. It appears that they have set aside a team of reps, just for this problem. Their call volume is VERY HIGH, so patience is necessary. Call 866-640-5125 and wait. It will be worth it for the unlimited data option you deserve.
I ordered my iPad June 5th. Got it this morning. I am unable to get the unlimited data. I was on the phone with ATT for over 3 hours and the end result was "we physically can't do anything". I call Apple and got an extremely rude supervisor on the phone who told me that I miss read the website when I ordered my iPad from the apple website. I was so fing ****** I hung up.. This is total BS! Good luck to all others. I will be monitoring and calling daily till I decide to give up and send them their iPad back. Apparently we are all dumb and can't read a website correctly....according to apple!!!! STFU
I had success here too. The number mentioned earlier in this thread (1-866-640-5125) worked for me.
After waiting on hold for over 45 minutes, a very kind and helpful man named Richard got me signed up for unlimited 3G on my iPad that was ordered on 6/4, and finally arrived today (6/21).
He instructed me to sign up for the 2 GB plan while on the phone, which he immediately canceled, and then changed it to the unlimited plan. E-mails are sent to your inbox for each billing step, so be sure you verify you're officially signed up for unlimited 3G before you end the call.
During activation, I also had to navigate to Settings...General...About, and read off the IMEI number. No need to pop-out the SIM card, or anything like that.
According to Richard, all unlimited 3G sign-ups are now handled over-the-phone, so be ready to call and wait.
