New LED Cinema Display on a PC - PC won't boot with USB plugged in

I bought a new LED cinema display to use with my PC, I'm an artist and I think it's the best display around. The display works great on my PC (I have a video card with mini displayport). However, my PC will not boot if I have the USB cable from the display plugged in. It hangs in the BIOS, and won't let me go any further or even let me go in the BIOS. In order to get my computer to turn on, I have to unplug the USB cable, wait for my OS to start up, and then plug the cable in. Once plugged in, it works, and the USB ports on the display work, etc. It's a big pain, because my computer is on the floor, and I don't like having to go down there to unplug it everytime I reboot my PC.
I tested this display on my Mac, and my Mac boots up fine with it plugged in. What's the deal? I've tried changing some BIOS settings too, like the setting for Legacy USB, and also made sure the PC was not set to boot from USB. What else can I do? Thanks.

What's the video card and motherboard?
Have you tried in all usb ports?

Thanks for responding. The video card is a Nvidia GeForce GT 120. I bought it because it is one of the less expensive cards with a mini Displayport built in - from what I gathered it's the same card used in some Mac Pros, but it will work with a PC too. It works wonderfully in my PC, and provides good output to my cinema display. I have no issue with the video card, it's awesome. My motherboard is an Intel DG41RQ board, with a Core2 Duo processor on it.
I've tried the monitor in all the USB ports. No matter what, my PC will not boot with the monitor's USB connected. It will boot with other USB devices plugged in (my keyboard is usb, scanner and printer are usb, etc). I have to unplug the USB cable for the monitor and then the PC will boot, and once plugged back in, the USB ports, sound, etc from the monitor all work. It's just really weird, it's like the monitor's USB is interfering with my BIOS and just locking my system from starting up.

Hum... you have bootcamp instaled? If not instal it and if not work try flash your bios.

I search a bit and I found some incompatibilities in your system, your motherboard only support *DDR2 800MHz/667MHz* memory and your videocard in apple web site say that requires *1066MHz DDR3* memory, so the problem must be that, if you can try other motherboard with ddr3 support, then say how works

Oh and that vga Recommended 350W Minimum System Power, so check your psu too.

No I don't have bootcamp installed.. I thought bootcamp was a Mac thing for running Windows. I'm on an actual PC, not a Mac, running windows. The display works fine with my Mac. The problem is not the video card not working, the video card works fine. I'm able to use the video card in my PC, and it displays on my cinema display. The only problem is that my PC won't boot with the Displays USB cable plugged in. I have no problem with the video card, it will run just fine with just the video connected. I've tried flashing the BIOS on my PC too, but that didn't help. I guess I'll just have to leave the USB unplugged and use it that way, or plug it in after I boot up.

Hi again,
Boot camp can be instaled in windows to make some apple hardware work properly in PC so you can test it.
I understand well, I am only try find solutions to your problem, I hope you understand.
BTW you can access and work in the bios with cinema display?

Oh and in the future if you want change that videocard for a better one, ATI release one new card with 5 minidisplay ports for PC at great price, please check hd5770 eyefinity 5 edition.

I have the ati 5670 video and it's not working with the apple cinema 24" display. I did some searching... seem like people are saying all the radeon 5000 series is not wokring with the apple 24"

any comment ? thank you.

Hi,
Cheapest 5000 series only work with atlona adaptor but HD5970 and eyefinity models (eyefinity 5 and eyefinity 6) work great because those already have minidisplay port.
So if you want cheap card and better then that one you have buy hd5770 eyefinity 5, if you want a premium card buy HD5870 eyefinity 6 or HD5970 and it will work great.

Please excuse my ignorance. What is eyefinity ? does my video card (ati 5670) have eyefinity? what is the difference between 5 or 6 eyefinity?

Hi,
Eyefinity technology (multi display) is not what you need, you said right your card support eyefinity but don't have minidisplay port.
The eyefinity models I suggest you have minidisplay port, since the apple cinema display have minidisplay port its just plug in the monitor cable and your done no adaptors need, no problems.

The cheapest eyefinity model is 5770 eyefinity5

If you like run high end games you can buy eyefinity 6

Those 3 models have minidisplayport but if you don't want change your card you can always buy atlona adaptor (Atlona AT-DP200) and that will work too.

Does anyone have a solution for getting the speakers in the cinema display to work with a PC. I have the same problem, the computer will not boot with the USB attached. Works great without it, just no sound. I have tried a USB - 3.5mm converter with no luck.
I really dont want to have to buy a set of speakers since my monitor is wall mounted.

I am using cinema display on a PC with ATI eyefinity 6 with boot camp and all works.
Try instal bootcamp 3 and then 3.1 I think that will work!
