How can I merge 2 SMS.db databases?

How can I merge 2 SMS.db databases?

I need to merge/combine two different SMS.db files. Does anyone know how to do this? I have searched the archives here and there was one person 2 years ago that stated they wrote a php script that merges 2 sms databases but their email is no good anymore.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Sadly this site does not condone jailbreaking (as you wouldnt have access to the root partition were sms.database is kept)

but ill answer regardless, you cannot combine 3.X and 4.0 as they are wrote differently.

Hi MetalJay,

Thanks for the reply. I do not have 4.0 yet and will wait to upgrade to it if this can be done. Both sms.db files are the 3.1.3 version. I wanted to find a way to do this without jailbreaking as well.

I have extracted the files from backups with iPhone Backup Extractor. so I have the two files free and clear and without jailbreaking. Through research the only way I have found to marge these is to really know SQLite well, merge the files through SQLite programing, jailbreak the phone, and insert the new SMS.db merged file.

Again, I do not want to have to jailbreak my phone and I do not know or have the time to learn SQLite righ now.
