Problems with Time Machine Buddy widget and with backups

I apologize for not being clearer in what we did. There was a lot of back and forth. I do remember this as the main things:
1. Went to root level library and removed most launch agents and launch demons.
2. Same at user library.
3. Went to Accounts pref and removed almost all logon items except ones like iTune helper.
4. I had already disconnected from TC and deleted sparsebundle and restarted.
5. Connected with TC by ethernet and did a fresh backup (which went without problems according to Time Machine Buddy widget).
6. Disconnected ethernet cable and did repeated wireless backups, just a few minutes apart.
7. Was confused because these subsequent backups backed up about 7 GB each time.
8. After about 3 wireless backups (and in between calling Apple tech again — and the plan was to do further study and escalate).
9. But then, without any further change on my part (as best I remember), the wireless began to backup as expected, that is, the proper amount of material considering nothing really done between backups.
10. Gave it back to my wife and it seems to be OK and she has not complained.
