The first generation iPod will not be getting iOS 4 at all. However, does anyone know if the iBooks app will work for iPhone OS 3? This would allow the 1st generation iPod Touch and iPhone to use the app.
MBP i7, MB C2D, PowerMac G4,
iPhone OS 3.1.3,
10.5.8 on PowerMac G4...
The iBook app is a default app that comes with 4.0 right? I'm not sure what your question really is but here's my answer: is your iphone or ipod touch 2nd or 3rd gen?
I know iOS4 won't be offered on my iPod Touch. However, I was hoping that Apple would put the app on their older devices as well. It doesn't make sense that it couldn't work on any iPod and iPhone.
Utter disgrace that Apple have implemented software apartheid towards 1st Generation owners, they have effectively rendered us users as irrelevant. Apple needs to rethink the discrimination attitude against us 1st Gens or feel the wrath
I can see iOS4 not being on the 1st gen iPod Touch/iPhone. It would slow down too much while multitasking. But I can't see why they wouldn't want iBooks on as many devices as possible, to make money from book sales. Without iBooks, I'm just going to buy from the Kindle store or from Stanza. And, since I don't want to separate certain books, I'd continue buying on those platforms, even if iBooks became available to me.
