iPad won't connect to wireless network but laptop can

My iPad recognizes the wireless network but wont connect to any websites.

My husbands lap top is having no problem connecting to the wireless network and websites.

Why won't my iPad connect to any websites?

I suddenly started having a very similar problem.

My setup is an Airport Extreme (4th Gen), WPA2 security, iPad 2 (64gb), iOS 7.0.4, All Airport updates applied.

Until a few days ago, my iPad 2 connected just fine with my WiFi network from all around the house. Now, all of a sudden it will not connect unless I am sitting right next to the router (a few feet). When I'm that close, it connects immediately -- no problem. If I move away, even 10-15 feet, it drops the connection and does not even see my network. All my other devices see the network (4 iPhones, 2 laptops) from all over - even when right next to the iPad that is not able to.

I have:

(1) completely reset and restarted the Airport Extreme and my Cable modem (a few times)

(2) Reset my iPad network connection under settings as has been suggested (done a few times)

(3) Rebooted the iPad (done a few times)

(4) Getting frustrated, I fully reset and restored the iPad 2

(5) Tried changing the security to WEP, WPA and WPA2 - same problem while other devices function just fine

Keep in mind that it will connect when right under/next to the WiFi router but will not connect when it is a moderate distance away. Very very frustrating. It seems clear that nothing is wrong with the router...

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

I had the same problem. Other mac units connected to the network, but mu ipad suddenly would not. But the ipad recognized the network, and the network had a strong connection.

This is what solved my problem:

- I opened up the settings of the network on my imac.

- Then I pressed advances, and then TCP/IP

- There you will find all the information you need.

- if you want to have the dns setting as well, you find it under the dns tablet at the same page

Then I chose the network on my ipad

- It still did not connect

- I pressed the little blue information circle beside the network´s name

- I chose "static"

- I entered all the information i had found under my imacs settings, including the dns setting

- I pressef the arow at the top named "Wi Fi"

- My ipad instantly reconnected.

Good luck 🙂

My iPad was fine one day and today it wouldn't get on the internet. It connected to my router normally, or so it seemed. My iMac had not trouble getting on the internet. I tried changing from WEP to WPA and that did not work at all...lost connection with the iMac. All my numbers looked right but I tried changing the DNS address to 4.2.2.1 which is a free DNS service and that did it! Works fine now and still on WEP.

Just want to add my issue and my resolve if it helps anyone. I had the same issue my ipad mini was connected to wifi then suddenly one day I switched it on and it just wouldn't connect. I knew it wasn't my wifi as my phone was still linked to the wifi and working and so was my computer. I searched the internet hi and low trying all the possible fixes but had no luck. What worked for me was putting my ipad on charge and switching the wifi on and it picked my wifi up but still didn't connect there was just the spinning thing symbol saying it was trying to connect so I just left it to try and connect whilst on charge. 2hrs later and by surprise it had connected and stayed connected for the rest of the night. I was scared to turn it off but on switching it on the next day it connected straight away.

Same thing-- we've had our iPad2 at home connected to our home wireless network for more than a year and never had any problems, and then today suddenly it wouldn't connect; it saw our home network but when I tried to connect to it a box would come up saying that the network "wasn't available", even though all of our other home computers, phones, etc. were still connected as usual. I restarted both the iPad and also the router which didn't work, and then followed the suggestion on this thread and it worked great:

"...try to reset the network settings in Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings"

After I reset the network settings on the iPad it recognized my home network and I was able to put in our password and all is well.

Solved - thanks dgrahamsm. for can't connect to wifi. updated directions.

two steps:

1. stop runnnig programs

2. reset wifi

details

press home buttom 2x, newer versions of ipad you need to quit programs by wiping still but only go slightly down then way up and away to close out of each and every one of them.

*Reset network by settings/general/reset then choose just network settings.

restart ipad. add network back in. works 🙂

Hi all,

Just today my iPad decided it would not connect to my wifi. (other devices in house connect fine). I have read through all these posts and have tried most all of the suggestions without success. I have not gone into the router settings online(linksys), as I am not computer savvy enough to mess with these things. Any other suggestions?

Thanks
