iPad won't connect to wireless network but laptop can

My problem was similar to all of yours. My ipad, macbook pro, macbook air could connect to the router however my Ipad mini and my PS3 could not and. I thought it was very strange.

My Ipad min could connect to my phone using internet sharing.

So I tried many things and finally I figured it out. I changed the transmitting channel on my router and then everything work great.

I was having the same issue where my laptop was connected to the network and functioning, but the iPad, though showing a strong network connection was not allowing internet access.

I went to the General tab under settings, then the Reset tab (mine was located at the bottom - it should give you different reset options). I didn't want anything deleted so I selected Reset Network Settings, which deleted the network password (you'll have to input this again to connect). After connecting to the same network and inputting the password it connected without deleting anything, AND internet access was a success.

Hi, I had the same issue with my intex W300D modem. My laptops were connecting, but iPad was not. Intex support also said they dont support iPad(crap!) . Found a work around (and my head hurts)

If you are on a home network-

Please give a Static IP to your iPAD, and manually configure DNS, Subnet and Gateway values. try these simple steps

1. Go to your wi-fi connection, choose wifi-ID, input password. Click on the blue 'i' symbol. Choose 'Static' option

2. Input values to IP address - any value say 192.168.1.59(or any random num 1-100), Subnet mask - 255.255.255.0, Router - 192.168.1.1(usually)

3. To get DNS value - go to your MAC or PC already connected- you should all these values get this as well.

Say ok and you are good to go.

The solution offered by funkof73 - Aug 17, 2010 9:15 PM - worked for me perfectly. Change the WiFi security on your modem from WPA to WPA2-PSK You will need an ethernet cable to connect your computer to your modem. Enter the URL that is on the back of the modem (I have a Netgear modem) into your browser and enter the username and password that is also printed on the back of your modem. In the control panel find the WiFi security section and change it to WPA2-PSK Remember to press the "apply" or similar button to activate and save the change you make. Log out of your modem control. You may need to select your modem through your WiFi options on your computer screen and renter your password. I did not need to change my password for my WiFi connection. My iPad connected instantly.

It is strange, but for a couple of years my iPad has been connecting to my WiFi perfectly. Suddenly last night it refused to connect and all I had was the whirling wheel in its efforts to connect. Changing the modem WiFi security to WPA2-PSK worked perfectly.

I had same issue with my ipad 2. It wont connect to my network. Even though everything else did. Here is what you do and it worked for me.

Go to your Router setting in my case Netgear.

Go to Advance Tab wireless setting and click on setup access list

Go to Add Access Filter for Mac Address

Then Go to your iPad General Setting and About tab

Get your Wi-Fi Address and type the numbers on to the Router Access Filter Mac Address

Press Apply and then it should work after few seconds

This helped me. Seems all I had to do was click forget this wifi network and then re-add it. Very strange because it's the same one I've used at home for years.

This affected my Apple TV, iPhone and iPad, but not my desktop (didn't try my laptop today).

In Apple's defense, my router had the wrong time, so I also changed NTP servers but that didn't help. Also rebooting the iPhone and iPad did not help either.

No need to forget ALL your networks, just the one you are trying to connect to.
