Cannot drag and drop into iTunes

Hi all, as of the last 48 hours I cannot drag and drop audio or video directly into iTunes any more. I can go the "File > Add to Library..." route but this is cumbersome, particularly when the files are not correctly tagged. I can drag and drop normally within iTunes (between playlists, between iTunes and iPods etc) but not from outside iTunes into a playlist or the library itself; and yes, the files I'm trying to add are fully iTunes-compatible mp3s and mp4s. Any suggestions?

The new iTunes update to 9.2 may be necessary for iPhone 4 to work but they missed a whole bunch of things. For example when I drag a track from my iTunes window to the desktop I used to see the file on the desktop with the artwork as the file's icon - now when I drag it the artwork is no longer included in the thumbnail nor when I hit the space bar to preview the track - something I used a lot when I do my job reviewing music - sometimes 200 track per week so it has ruined my process of working with music files in large quantites.

Also - I always found that iTunes never correctly embeds the text info for each track into CDs whenever I used the program to burn CDs. Often when I am DJing in a club the text info would not show on the CD player screen. I found that Toast would do this perfectly everytime regardless of what model CD player I was working with. So I would grab aplaylist from iTunes and drop it into the Toast window and simply hit burn. NOW in 9.2 I can no longer select an entire playlist and drag it to Toast. I have to drag all the files out of iTunes, into a folder then reassemble the playlist track by track in Toast - this takes 10 times longer or more.

APPLE by forcing these things upon us you are turning into MICROSOFT!!!!!!!!!!

Me too - just upgraded to iTunes 10.0.1 and have discovered there's no drag and drop at all. The only way round this I've found is by highlighting the tracks you want to move into a new playlist, then right click and select Add To Playlist.

But that's a massive pain in the a** and Apple - you need to fix this ASAP. Drag and drop was always one of the fundamental reasons why iTunes made managing a music collection easy - seems you're more bothered with Ping than you are with maintaining the basics. Sort it out!

Sorry for posting that into Mac discussion (found that page through google).

I've got 10.1.0.56 and Windows 7 on both work and home computers. Can drag-and-drop at work, can't at home. Suppose that's some difference in Windows configuration. Remember having problems with drag-and-dropping files from the explorer into text editor for example. Don't remember how I fixed that at work. 😟
