Canadian iPad in US = No Service

I am a Canadian iPad user, subscribed with Rogers. I am spending the week in the Chicago area, and so I called Rogers and they set me up with a roaming data plan. When I arrived in Chicago, my iPhone immediately picked up AT&T but my iPad keeps saying No Service, despite the fact that it detects both AT&T and T-Mobile.

I have rebooted the device, reset the network settings, erased the APN field - all to no avail.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks!

There is a 4th option that has now come available. Its thru a canadian company called Roam Mobility. You can purchase a mobile hotspot from them and buy a prepaid US data package with T-mobile. Its supposed to be 4g speed and since it creates your own personal wifi node, it should allow any of your devices to log onto it and get that speed across that wifi network. I havent tried it yet, (have ordered it and will be travelling to the US next month for a week). I can report back here after and let you know how it worked if you like. I was getting tired of $900 phone bills when I got back to canada and since my wife and I are going to be RV'ing more and more often in the states, we thought we would give this a try. We also have the sim card for our phone to allow us unlimited calls to and from canada as well as unlimited texting to and from canada prepaid. If all goes according to advertised info, our phone bill should be less than $100 (our usual canadian bill).

cheers and heres keeping our fingers crossed
