iPad Safari crashing regularly

Safari on my iPad is crashing fairly frequently; sometimes when I restart it retains the pages that were previously open, and sometimes not.

Have not yet established a pattern, but it seems prevalent on very large pages (for example pages with many images) and on pages with embedded video (particularly Flash).

Anyone else experiencing the same issue and/or have any further information? Anybody using a browser other than Safari on the iPad?

Mac OS X (10.5.1)

My wife's iPad mini is crashing constantly. When she watches movies, everything shuts down randomly. Also, webpages that she visited disappear. Emails that were deleted in Yahoo show back up again as unread. Really wierd! It was a gift, so I'm not sure what the return policy is. But, given the issues as described here, it seems like even new ones have issues.

Actually, if your TV required a digital converter, one was provided free of charge at the time of the conversion to digital broadcasting. No one expected you to eat a company's planned obsolescence in support of their forced sales strategy.

For this and other reasons, my family are considering the options before blindly buying any more Apple products. Apple is batting about .500 on laptop hardware, 2 of 3 iPad 1s are collecting dust in a drawer, we're disillusioned with iOS 7 and iPhone hardware, and the iOS-ification of OSX is juvenile and annoying. I still want to prefer Apple, but I have to admit that there's a compelling case for considering carefully what you're getting into before buying their products.

I checked "Diagnostics" under General Settings and looked at the long list of information sent to Apple. The majority of it was crashes. Most of the transmissions said "Low Memory" or "Stack." So I assume that the operating system is not clearing memory of managing stack space properly.

Thus sounds like something Bill Gates could fix on his lunch break with a hair pin.

Now, in addition to all the app crashes, I'm unable to download updated apps...I've got 8 waiting to download. I press the Update button, get the rotating wheel, then the Update button reappears. I'm using 8 GB of 32 GB, so there is plenty of space.

I've already abandoned iTunes after spending thousands there because of corruptions of my music database. I guess I'm going to have to move to a tablet or Kindle. Then the iPhone's next.

I doubt it. A blog story just last week described how Bill Gates just spent his first day back at Microsoft livid and frustrated because he and the new CEO together could not figure out how to get Gates' computer upgraded to Windows 8.1. Big troubles with the installer....

Everything is relative.

Problem fixed !!!

I bought a new Asus Transformer T-100 64GB running Win 8.1 and put my iPad away. 😀

I haven't experienced a single crash and it's far faster than browsing on the old Fruity Thingy. I might miss a few apps but I'm loving everything else... not to mention I don't have to worry about Flash, java, sites not working right, or being stuck with mobile sites instead of a full browser.

Not looking back.

Someone let me know when the class action starts. 😉

I've returned my iPad Air months ago, still watching this thread for the latest.

I picked up the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, it does everything I need without the crashing, and I've found many of the same apps I use, the most important being my audio and video streaming which is great. While Samsung may not be considered high quality as would be expected from Apple ...neither was the iPad Air.

Ah, so there is life after Apple ...if you have good reason to look for it.
