Logic 5.5.1, setting sound card options without opening the host program..?

I bought a PC-laptop a week ago, decided to use that only for music production. Today I installed my logic platinum, just to make sure it runs ok and just played around you know. I haven't still bought a soundcard so I didn't really plan to go anywhere further than testing it.. From the audio driver preferences I chose (PC AV) EASI MME drivers because naturally i haven't got anything else yet.. I relaunched the app and the next time the loading screen came it halted with the loading text saying:

"Initializing PC AV:EASI DirectSound (DirectShow Plug-Ins Init)"

Soon after that came the "Logic has encountered problem and needs to close..."

So, obviously Logic crashing and those audio drivers have something to do with each other. Other programs (Recycle & Soundforge) seem to function just fine with these settings. Can I somehow change the drivers without opening the app? I tried re-installing several times, even to another partition in my harddrive..

Any help greatly appreciated!
