iOS 4 compatibility with Mercedes Audio 20 / Audio 50 / Command

Has anyone tried to plug an iOS4 iPhone (3G, 3GS, 4) into one of the aforementioned systems? (Cradle or MultiMedia Interface)

I'm nervous that after the upgrade I wont be able to listen to music and browse folders directly from my steering wheel.

I'm willing to find a guinea pig to test it on mine. I'll let you know ASAP.

Cheers

I am having the exact same problem with my Mercedes command system (Mid 2008).
The playlists have empty entries, the artists are not fully listed anymore, and it takes minutes to move from one menu entry to the next.
I am going to call my Mercedes dealer on Monday (in Germany).

Keep our fingers crossed! I am very disappointed, too!

I am sorry to tell you guys but I doubt very much if Mercedes can fix this on any of their cradles as none of them are S/W upgradeable. The viseeo is and I would expect Triamp to have a fix rolled out very soon. They did the last time Apple messed up the bluetooth.

Cars with my09 (built in bluetooth) or newer comand units may well be okay. I am hearing reports that the W207/W212/W204 are all okay but have yet to confirm this myself.

I amd still using my original HFP cradle (not the new type) and its fine with IOS 4.

This is not a problem unique to Mercedes. My iPhone 3GS (iOS 4) and iPhone 4 both have problems with my factory BT. The phonebook information is garbled and has all kinds of strange characters, making phonebook and call log access impossible. The really strange part is that when initiating a call from the phone or receiving a call, the correct name/number information is displayed on the radio and the instrument cluster display. I really wish Apple would fix this, it makes BT very hard to use at the moment since I have to dial from the phone.

Dear All,

I have raised a bug report with Apple Engineering today discussing the points we see surrounding the bluetooth issues with iOS4

I believe other people have raised bug reports too. More the merrier.

This is not a Mercedes fault as the exact same car setup I had when I went from iPhoneOS2 to iPhoneOS3 worked fine before and after.

It appears to be a bug introduced into the bluetooth stack.

It has been raised and I will keep an eye on any reports I get back.

Regards

It doesn't solve the issue as such as any contact updates on the phone won't copy over but as a temporary fix I spent half and hour last night manually inputing all my contacts into the command address book and switched off 'sync contacts' in the cradle bluetooth options. This way I can bring all the names up on screen and dash and dial etc from steering wheel.

Hopefully Apple will provide a proper fix in due course.

That's a typical cop-out Apple reply - same as the old Ctl-Alt-Del one from microsoft from years ago.

I did a complete factory restore with my 3G and it solved nothing. Apple need to sort this as if they insist on a closed shop for developers and third party gizmo providers they HAVE to commit to maintaining set protocols for syncing and the like to avoid just these sort of issues.
