Weird Scrambled images when using Intel HD Graphics
I recently bought a new 15" Macbook Pro and I have been seeing some really weird scrambled images when it is using the integrated graphics. I mostly notice it when switching to Top Sites in Safari or when using Spaces. Now, when I open a program to force the graphics to switch to the discrete 330M card (1Password triggers it, oddly enough), the images correct themselves within a second or two. I tried to take a screen grab using Grab, but that actually scrambles the image even more. Is anyone else seeing this, or is this a sign of a hardware failure?
I have this issue with my mbp i7, I handed it in to service in the beginning of September and they changed the logic board. A couple of days ago the problem returned and I handed the mbp back in, today I got a text message stating that they are changing the logic board again.
I too have this problem with my i7 MBP. Can make it go away temporarily by turning the Automatic Graphics Switching off and then on again... It's very annoying, so I hope Apple gets around to fixing it.
hello, i have notice for weeks strange artifacts when i use the intel HD chispset. It looks like the same as described up in this topic.
What can we do ?
I have the same issue, my screen gets scrambled, some part of the view gets frozen and stays there on top of whatever the screen is displaying, also some image parts get frozen on the desktop. It is very annoying. Ran all the hardware tests, there does not seem to be a hardware problem.
It happens randomly with certain sites, and once it does, it doesn't matter how many times you close out the tab in Safari and reload, it stays scrambled, and I always have to end up loading the same page in Firefox for it to work.
I hope Apple let's us know what's going on and soon.
I also had the issue of scrambled images in Safari, as well as screenshots. I took my Macbook Pro to the Apple store last week. The man at the Genius Bar looked at it ,ran hardware tests, and the results came out as negative. Finally he decided to take it in for repair anyway. Here I am a few days later with a new logic board and I'm still experiencing scrambled images although nowhere near as bad as before. So I'm not sure what the solution to this is, but taking it to the Apple store didn't fix it 100% for me.
I also have been having trouble with flash. So I reinstalled it, but that did not help either. I would think this is a software issue since the hardware test does not detect anything not working correctly. I am thinking about reinstalling the system. Has anyone tried that yet here?
Hi all, same exact issue. New MBP, just bought it in Aug 2010. Just started happening after the new OS updat. It happens only on specific web pages, most notably yahoo mail whenever i try to write a new message. I called apple and they said to try to reinstall the OS, which didnt help. Thoughts as to whether it is a hardware or software issue?
Also, my 7200 drive sometimes vibrates to the point of feeling like an electric current in my wrists! What happened to Apple's quality? To many flashy mobile products to keep track of?
I get exactly the same problem as altoburgo (above). It only affects the Safari window, I do not get scrambling across the entire screen. Refreshing sometimes work, sometimes it doesn't. Closing the browser or tab and reopening can fix it, but it re-occurs fairly regularly, at least a few times a day. As others have mentioned, attempting a screen grab just results in a blank (black) screenshot.
I only seem to get this problem with Google Mail and Google Maps - non-Google sites do not seem to throw up this problem. I have never experienced this problem using Firefox, only Safari.
