Porn on safari?

When I look at alternative browsers in the App Store, I see restrictions that you need to be 17 or older because of violence, gambling, and sexual content.

As far as I can tell, Safari can access all this same content. Do these browser offer different content?

Why isn't there a warning on the iPad that you have to be 17 or older to purchase it?

Am I missing a feature in Safari to block such content? How can I be assured my young children aren't exposed to questionable material when I let them use the iPad? When I try to remove Safari, I cannot.

Thanks,

Allan

Good points, David. I use the OpenDNS control panel right from their website, not a separate app. We've got wifi here at home that my iPad & my teenaged son's laptop connects through. I doubt it would work at all with 3G. I can use my iPad to sign in at opendns.com with my username/password and check all the data, block/unblock. In my case I don't need an iPad app to do it.

I love OpenDNS.

This is for the iPhone and should/will work for the iPad... when working with opendns on a mobil device.

I have been using opendns for a longtime and it has a lot of advantages over using your ISP DNS server. I wonder if opendns would help with wifi problems that some people are having on the iPad? Couldn't hurt.

I just started using OpenDNS on the iPad. From home it works great...

(From what I can see.) If you go out and use another wifi connection you will have to plug in the numbers for OpenDNS for that connection. In fact for each new connection you will have to this... As for filtering you might need the desktop widget/app to use OpenDNS filtering on the iPad. There isn't an OpenDNS app...

As for g3 connection, OpenDNS may not work. I don't have a a 3G iPad and I don't know if there is a DNS setting like the wifi setting has...

Google... 'Opendns for the iPad' for more info.
