Snow Leopard 10.6.4 graphic problem

Since I updated my os to 10.6.4 I am having problem rendering graphics, there are even lags on quicktime while playing movies. Do others having the same problem? Is there a bug in the update?

Hi there,

I have just installed the new graphic upgrade and at least running cinebench I can't see any improvement. I still get only 11fps.

what's going on apple?

By the way. I raised a case with apple. my advise is that we all do it. this is not acceptable.
Windows running faster than a Mac on video handling. This used to be where the Mac were the best.

cheers

Erik, welcome to Apple Discussions.

It may be the Snow Leopard Graphics Update 1.0 is not intended to improve your system’s graphics if you are using a model from 2008:
- Addresses frame rate issues occurring in Portal and Team Fortress 2 by Valve, on iMac (Late 2009 and Mid 2010), Mac mini (Early 2009 and Mid 2010), Mac Pro (Early 2009), MacBook (Early 2009 and Mid 2010) and MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2010) or MacBook Pro (17-inch, Mid 2010) models.
- Resolves an issue that could cause Aperture 3, or StarCraft II by Blizzard, to unexpectedly quit or become unresponsive.

Not sure what to say here, but this is getting ridiculous now on my iMac.

I now have to frequently reboot the system after the display freezes. Already three reboots this evening already...

Is there any way that I can go back to 10.6.3 ?

iMac
Model Identifier: iMac8,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.8 GHz

I have 4GD RAM memory.

Graphics is:
Chipset Model: ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro

Any help is appreciated, thanks...

After I upgraded from 10.6.3 to 10.6.4 I lost hardware acceleration in everything graphics related. OpenGL-stuff won't work or freezes/paints random memory.

GPU-enabled software like Apple Aperture won't even start, claiming my GPU isn't powerful enough anymore, although it works fine on 10.6.3.

Time Machine requires OpenGL to render, so I can't restore without booting setup. (Time Machine crashes on my 10.6-install dvd, so I have to do a clean install and then restore backup also.)

I've done this a couple of times now since the 10.6.4 release, and was really hoping this recent graphics update would fix something.

I guess I'll reinstall again :-/

This is really sad, because more and more software is starting to require 10.6.4 (Xcode++)
