Application update all Information outdated

Does anyone know of a solution for the "The information on this page is outdated. Click OK to refresh the page. If you have available updates after refreshing, click Download All Free Updates" message?

I open iTunes the go to the app store and click Download All Free Updates. It always gives me the message that the page is outdated, I have to click OK then it refreshes the page with the exact same app updates and I have to click Download All Free Updates again for it to continue.

This happens every time I have new app updates whether I launch iTunes or every time the iMac goes to sleep and I open iTunes when it was already running.

It's not quite fair to say "of course, no response or acknowledgement from Apple" if you haven't followed William Shepherd's advice from a few pages up, which I quote here:

==
Everyone who has this problem, please file a complaint at

http://www.apple.com/feedback/

It's fine to gripe here, but it doesn't help solve anything. But if enough people send feedback, it might get fixed.

So if you have filed feedback, then great! If you haven't and you want Apple to fix it, file feedback!

Problem still exists, though recently hasn't been quite as bad as it used to.

For example, when I first discovered this problem, after getting the Outdated warning, I would have to go back into Apps, select Check for Updates, then click on Download Updates, and then it would download them.

More recently, after the warning, all I need to do is click on Download Updates (or whatever the exact wording is) and then it works.

At least slightly less hassle than it was at first.

I have a theory that this error message isn't about out-of-date apps on your machine at all. Rather, it seems to occur when you hit "Update All" but the list of new app updates has changed behind the scenes since you opened it. In order to avoid having you accidentally install an app that was not in the list you were shown, or expect to be receive g an updTe that is no longer around (much less common), it throws this error to force a list refresh.

I think this may interact with some flakiness about how quickly all of Apple's servers get updated with info about newly available apps. I have hit the link to check for updates, seen 5; one minute later, clicked the link again and seen four; then, a few minutes later, the missing one is back. I can imagine iTunes throwing that error dialog if I had tried to dl 5 apps but one had since (flakily) disappeared from itunes' view.

Does this fit others' observations?

I believe the problem is with duplicate IPA files in ~/Music/iTunes/Mobile Applications
For example when I look in that folder I have three copies of BubbleWrap BubbleWrap.ipa, BubbleWrap 1.ipa, BubbleWrap 2.ipa. This is the same for a lot of my older programs. Now this might explain why sometimes it works fine and sometimes you get the error. This is because applications that aren't there multiple times update without the error. Applications that are listed multiple times have the error.

I believe the error lies with the fact that you click update all applications, the files get parsed and because there are multiple file names for the same application the process bombs and displays the error. Sometimes I get the error multiple times and sometimes I get no error at all. I need to keep of log of what is updating and when and how many times I get the alert to prove my theory.

My guess was correct. Here is how I fixed mine on my Mac.
First I created a new folder on my Desktop (Valid Apps).
Next I opened iTunes and switched to apps.
Then View as List.
When you have the list of applications select all and copy them to your new folder (Valid Apps). I did this while the new folder was open and not to the icon.
All the Applications should start to copy.
After the files copy select one file and do "Show in Finder".

When you have the folder open select all of the ipa files and move them to a different folder on your desktop like (All Apps Backup).
Close iTunes
Drag all your Apps from the folder created earlier(Valid Apps) to Mobile Applications.
Reopen iTunes.

Problem solved.

So after doing this I noticed some apps are missing. For example BubbleWrap is gone. However it is simply under a new name. So I copied from my (My Apps Backup) the latest version of BubbleWrap and did an Update. Low and behold the app got renamed, the new copy installed and the old version went in the trash. So my next step is to create some applescript that compares the 2 folders and flags ones that don't exist with a label. Then I need to determine is it an app that's already there with a file name or not. If it is not existing I drag it into iTunes and do the update. If the update runs the old version with the correct name goes in the trash.

Brilliant! After following these steps, I was able to "update all" without having to dismiss the annoying "this information is outdated" dialog - for the first time in months! (Time will tell if this blissfully pain free updating persists, or if it creeps back. Fingers are crossed!)

I'm still having trouble wrapping my head around this - what do you think was responsible? What's the difference between the view of your apps as they appear in iTunes, and the view of them as they appear in the Finder?

Thanks!!!
Joe

I have noticed that the ones in finder have duplicates. So if I had xyzGame.ipa and they changed the name of their file name then there is two xyzGame.ipa and NewxyzGame.ipa.

I added some of my programs back in that were not updating and the problem returned.

My guess is that iTunes is Parsing the Mobile Applications directory and updating the database. When there is a duplicate file it doesn't know what to do with. I bet if I take a program duplicate it and have two files SomeProgram.ipa and SameProgram.ipa then updates will stop working again.

So when I follow my steps these are the files it doesn't add back in, however, those are duplicates of the same file.
