Application update all Information outdated

Happens to me about 95% of the time as well. I just got used to waiting for that stupid error message, then clicking Download All again.

Been happening for at least the last 2 minor updates of iTunes so evidently Apple either doesn't know how to fix it or doesn't care.

Clicking "Update All" a second time, after dismissing the error dialog, works all the time for me (or at least almost all the time).

I just eliminated all of the duplicate files in the mobile apps folder - that did not help.

However, regarding the similar problem with different error message in iTunes 9: someone else reported that removing old app files corresponding to apps no longer in the iTunes store fixed the problem.

That DID fix the problem for me for a while - I found a couple of obsolete apps, deleted them, and the problem went away for a couple of months at least. But, it eventually came back, I presumed because another app had become obsolete.

I haven't tested this theory again, as I have a lot of apps, and I haven't discovered an easy way to find obsolete apps. Last time, someone had posted a list of obsolete apps they'd found, which included all of the ones I had - that made it easy for me. If you sort by date (in the Finder), and then look for the very old apps in iTunes, that's a good way to find some, but doesn't guarantee you've found all of them.

Very annoying.

I've been having this issue since iTunes 9 on a consistent basis and no amount of updates has changed it. The reason it occurs, as was suggested in an earlier thread, is that if you have an app that no longer exists on the App Store, it will trigger this message the first time that you try to download all updates. The easiest and so far most reliable work-around in iTunes is to either click the download all button again or just download app updates individually, depending on which you think will take less time.

I hope that Apple looks into fixing this, as it's going to become a bigger and bigger problem for users as many of them download apps that may only be available for a limited time. Deleting apps from my library just because they're not on sale anymore is not a solution that I want to entertain.

Has anyone else stopped experiencing this problem in the last couple of weeks? I'm running iTunes 10.1.2 - perhaps this fixed it? I wasn't paying attention at the time I installed. In any case, for the past several checks of App Store updates, I didn't receive the dreaded "the information on this page is outdated" error. I enter my iTunes password, and the updates just download - very smooth, the way it always should've been. Fingers are crossed that it's really fixed this time.
