Angry Bird HD no sound, problem with iPad or app?

Hi guys!
I recently bought an iPad and downloaded the Angry Bird HD game. When i first ran the game, i realize there was no sound, even if i press the mute and then unmute it, there was no sound.
I restarted the game and the sound came back. Is anyone having the same issue of running apps with no sound? I'm not sure if this is the problem with the app or with my ipad, hopefully just the app.
thanks guys!

How do you reboot an app in iTunes? I know this is an iPad discussion, but I cannot get sound on Angry Birds on my iPhone 3GS -- and I can't find any help. Sound worked fine on the Lite version.

I think he means update the app. The latest version is for the iPad is Angry Birds HD 1.3.5; for the iPhone it is Angry Birds 1.4.0

Sound seems to work for me. If it does not work for you try restarting it.

I also purchased Angry Birds for my Ipad, and like you I started the game and there was no sound. After all what is Angry Birds without sound. Anyway. After rebooting, etc. I determined that the Ipad mute was on. This may sound silly, but here is the thing. With IOS 4.2 the screen orientation switch changed to a mute switch. I had the switch unknowkingly in the mute postion. I guess I never checked because I could still play music from the ipad feature. So it appears that even with the switch in the mute postion music will still play, but all other apps are muted. The short of it. Check your mute switch on the right side of the pad (right above the volue rocker switch)

I have the exact same problem. When I play the game as a standalone application on my iPhone 4 I don't hear sound. However, when I'm listening to music via the iPod application I hear the game sound. So my workaround is relatively simple but effective. I've created a 1.5 minute blank audio file (.mp3) and added it to my playlist. Whenever I want to play Angry Birds I play the clip in a loop. While this method does not address the root cause of the problem it does allow me to play the game with sound. Enjoy!

Speaking of Angry Bird, the Wall St. Journal had an expose yesterday about mobile apps that send user information back to ad companies, and Angry Bird is one of them. Seems that a lot of apps collect your iPad's UDID and possibly other data like sex, age, etc. and send them to various ad companies who then target ads to your iPad/iPhone/iPod/Android. The article was quite an eye-opener! And with apps vs. applications on the mac and PC, there's no way of blocking the transmission short of turning off wifi and/or phone connectivity.

Not exactly, what the article said was:

"Free and paid versions of Angry Birds were tested on an iPhone. The apps sent the phone's UDID and location to the Chillingo unit of Electronic Arts Inc., which markets the games. Chillingo says it doesn't use the information for advertising and doesn't share it with outsiders."

That information is used for by Chillingo for marketing research. As usual, the user is first queried if they want to allow the application to use their location.

When you start Pandora it asks for information like age & sex which, presumably, is use to tailor what ads you will see when you use the app.

In any event, all of this is anonymous. It's really statistical.

Here's a link to the article: http://topics.wsj.com/article/SB20001424052748704694004576020083703574602.html

It's an interesting read.

You will all thank me later, I did not have working sound for a very long time after if was originally, after updating/playing, one day it stopped working!

How to fix: Open Angry Birds, click on the settings icon in lower left, and unchecked the mute speaker button.

I know I did not turn it on mute, it was a preference added after update, the preference will stay with ur app unless u restore or turn back off manually.

Your welcome 😉

I spent ages trying to find out why the sound had gone from Angry Birds on the Iphone but it will apply to the Ipad.It just stopped whilst playing the game. It also stopped the VoiceOver sound.

I checked the mute settings and the sound switch both were fine. Its turns out that for some reason it had dropped the volume to zero on the Ipod App. Once I increased the volume everything was back to normal. Hope it helps someone!

"Not happy Jan"! I've only just found this post. I should have looked on the internet first before restoring my ipad to factory settings. Thank goodness for Apple, they really help users. I was able to restore a time-stamped backup. I've written to the developers of Angry Birds but its taken me several precious hours to work out it was Angry Birds causing the problem and not my iPad. How frustrating. There goes by computer-time for the day.

F I N A L L Y, I've solved my problem or should I say the Forum community has assisted me with this problem. My problem was the toggle switch in the ipad, the one just above the sound up/down switch on the side of the iPad. I think it is a "mute" switch. In portrait orientation, I switched it and vwallah I got my sound back on Angry Birds and on an app I'm developing. Yay! Well I certainly learned a lot during this struggle.

I have the new iphone4 for Verizon and had this sound problem. The Angry Birds sound quit working and nothing seemed to help. With the forum's help I figured out to cycle the iPhone completely off, restart, then after launching the app go into the menu and turn off the mute button. Before the restart, the mute button shows that the sound is not muted, so need to restart to see it muted.
