iOS 4 - problem with Exchange Calendar

I notice that when I have gmail exchange and my work exchange setup, my touch hits major performance lag. Like it will just sit for 30-40 seconds after I tell it to do something involving email/contacts/calender. But if I just have work exchange or just gmail exchange its fine. :/ Thinking about trying to see if I can get the work exchange rebooted.

I have tried to do a retore as a new iPhone...the exchanged calendar came back but partially...not all my event were there. I then restored again to my last back up as i wanted to get my SMS history back and the hard restore was not convincing...and guess what? It still does not work...not exchange calendar!

These steps did it for me. Although I used a forward slash after the domain name. I found no way to get a backslash on the on-screen keyboard. And I did not delete the account, just followed step 3&4.

Ok, sofar what I did was restore my touch. I did NOT restore a backup of it afterwards but just unplugged it so the unit was "factory default" so to speak. I configured wifi and added my work exchange data again. I am getting calendar, contacts, and "receiving" emails. However when I try to send, its using the wrong address again and the exchange server is bouncing them since it does not recognize the email address. Just added gmail exchange and no lag this time. Trying to get in touch with our dept IT to see if they can get the exchange server rebooted

Also, it seems to be difficult to do a downgrade to 3.1.3! So, I'm basically pretty much <in a bad situation> right now since I used to rely on full Exchange support on my iPhone.

I know what you mean. Luckily since AT&T reception at work and home are so poor I went with ipod Touch vs iphone and have a separate "semi-smart" phone 🙂 Has a program for 4 standard IM/Email services, and custom pop service so I can at least use that to get and send email via work. I have also gone to a lot of trouble to "sync" all my outlook, mobileme, yahoo, gmail, and cellphone contacts together, and I do seem to be getting work calendar. Not as good as fully working exchange for work on my touch, but enough to keep me from trying to restore the old OS. Plus actually I have a Touch 2g I could pill out that I have not upgraded the OS on if I get desperate.

I have done another hard restore (restore to new iPhone) and this time my exchange calendar is back...but it is very frustrating to loose so much data like my SMS and all apps data I had. I will try one last time to restore from my last back up...what a mess Apple!

I posted this on another discussion but saw that this one has the most activity. This is related to corporate exchange servers and not Gmail. On our server, when I tried to connect there were min byte warning logged and active sync timeouts. We are running exchange 2003 SP2.

I made the following change on our front end exchange server. You need to do this from the command prompt.

cscript adsutil.vbs set w3svc/MinFileBytesPerSec 0

I then restarted IIS on the exchange front end server

This fixed the issue and now all is working with my 3GS phone and OS 4.0

My solution was to delete the Exchange account from Settings/Mail, Calendar,.... and then re-create it with EXACTLY the same settings as before. Clearly, I had to wait a while for everything to be synced again, but everything is back to normal now, with the small exception of occasional issues syncing read & deleted mails. The latter may be due to intermittent network problems earlier today.

We think that Apple should resolve this issue. It's not the local IT departments that should be bending over backwards to address an bug in the software. This seems like a fundamental feature of Exchange.

I just wish that downgrading the firmware to iOS3 was not such an inconvenience for users.

Is anyone hearing us at Apple?

Deleting and recreating the account does not work for all users. For some it is consistent with the account recreation.

Maybe a solution for some...?

Had exact same problem - Exchange 2003 SP2, iOS4 mail syncs fine but calendar... nothing. No problems previously on 3.1.3.

Pulling my hair out all day (to the point where an alternate phone was sounding like a plan), trying everything here: re-created accounts from scratch, investigating differences in ActiveSync set up between Exchange 2003 and 2007, since I have a second Exchange account on 2007 that's been working fine with iOS4.

I have just spent some time clearing items off the Exchange 2003 mailbox on the server since it was close to the maximum size set by the IT team - looks like this has resolved my issues - all calendars including Exchange 2003/2007 and Google Calendars all now syncing perfectly.

Perhaps a fix similar to a server reboot. Strange 3.1.3 was working perfectly last night. Anyway, hope this helps....

after reading multiple posts of people saying their google calendar wont sync, my yahoo calendar wont sync, and now seeing that exchange is not syncing i am confident when i claim the problem is on Apple's end. They need to hurry and fix this as my calendar is essential for me, for both business, school and appointments. Also, they need to fix the mail app as i keep getting emails where my iphone displays them as no sender and no subject but when logging into yahoo mail on my pc it is clear that those are actual messages. Great example, i received an email from my dad that was above a notification email about an apple thread im following. on my iphone it shows that email as no sender... come on apple.. what happened to "no major bugs found"? lol, how do you miss these things.

A response - any response - from Apple would be appreciated at this juncture. It is long overdue.

I have exactly the same problem; added a second Exchange server, got the calendar on this one but the calendar on the existing one disappeared, completely blank. I tried to delete and recreate these accounts a couple of time, nothing changed.

What I know is that the one that doesn't sync is based on an Exchange 2003 account.
