Are you successful and happy with your iOS4?

Most of the topics so far are about their complains with iOS4. I am about to update my 3Gs and becoming hesitant.

Are there some success stories about the 4.0? Are you so far happy with the outcome?

Hello:

I have installed IOS4 on my iPod Touch, 32GB, 3rd generation. It seemed to be working ok, but I've now noticed some issues. When I use it with WiFi, I find that almost immediately, I get a "server stopped responding" message. This happens with things that before were never a problem. I find I need to do a complete OS shutdown and restart in order to get the WiFi functionality back. Other apps seem to work ok. The battery seems to be losing its charge more quickly as well. I suspect that it's because when I attempt to use WiFi and find a site online, my iPod is unable to connect (this only since the upgrade to IOS4), and even though I close the application, the unit continues to try to connect, using up battery in the process. I'm hopeful that an update to the update will come soon to correct these issues.

My experience in the update itself was flawless, took less than 20 min. Phone worked fine. Until I started using apps that use Location Service. Which at the time I didn't what the arrow was beside the battery icon. Never seen it under iOS3. Turns out that arrow indicates that you are using Location Service.

Have you tried running apps using Location Service? Try that and let your phone just sit there for a few minutes, I'm sure you'll see the rapid battery drain issue everyone is referring to. As well, when Location Service is on and you are not on wi-fi, you'll also notice that your data is being used up as well. People will say that's normal. It is normal for Location Service to drain your batter quicker, but NOT that fast. It never did that under iOS3.

The simple solution to this is to fully close the apps running Location Service (which in itself is a bit of a pain, it's now 4 steps instead of 1), but in doing so you will no longer get notifications. That wasn't the case with iOS3. You can quit an app (in my case Trapster), and will continue to get traffic updates, without the heavy drain on the battery. That's not the case now.

Do some playing around. I considered downgrading back to iOS3, but turns out you can't do it through iTunes. You need to jailbreak your phone and use third party sites to get the old OS. Which sounds even more of a hassle, so opted out of it.

I am absolutely thrilled with iOS 4 on my 3GS! My battery life is 20-25% better and the OS just feels like it should have been native from day one. My sulking over the iPhone 4 is over for sure (until I see that retina display in person). The only issue that I had was related to my photo library not being optimized. A simple reboot and re-sync fixed the issue immediately. I made sure to reboot my phone prior to updating and I also kept it in airplane mode to avoid interruption. My only concern is that I wear out my home button before the iPhone 5 comes out (LOL). Overall, I am really pleased with the added features and functionality that has made my iPhone feel brand new again. However, I do feel sorry for all those having issues with the software and the new hardware as well. Hopefully it will all be resolved soon.

I upgraded mine to IOS4 when it came out, and so far I like it, but the battery life seems to be the problem for me, even in airplane mode as I am out of country for a few month. The battery does last me two days of usage without wi-fi, but of course if i need to check my e-mail and apps that requires connection, then it does eat about 2-3% of my battery. But other than that it's fine. i'm thinking of taking my iphone to the genius bar because if I charge it while I sleep, and when I wake up, it says it's fully charged, but if i do something it goes down to 99% and it charges it again. But it has been doing this since I got my iphone 3G S in January. I will do a full restore and see if that fixes the problem, but if not, then I will take it to the genius bar and have them take a look at it. i think I might have a leakage.

SAME PROBLEM --- No more Iphone ( NO USB DEVICE and USB ERROR )
Bought this new 305S for PANDORA and now the Alpine 305S, specially made to work with Iphone, non-authorized device on the phone side, and NO USB on the Alpine side.

Better do what I did and burn some music to a FLASH DRIVE as a back-up so you are not tune-less. The FLASH DRIVES work perfectly, this is an Apple F( ^&%
