iOS 4 - Gmail Push - Mails stucks in the outbox

Hi,

if I send mails from an 3rdApp they will stuck in the Outbox and are not sending automatic.
With 3.1.3 this works fine.

Has anyone the same issue?

Mine seems to be "fixed" now. I had a similar experience as macatron. I had a imap account for syncing my notes from gmail. I deleted it because i was following advice about deleting all the accounts and then added JUST the Activesync gmail back and it worked. Added the imap back and it stopped working. So its fixed in the since that i know the work-around for it. having the notes syncing isn't a big deal and i can give it up in order to have my push email send correctly; but at the same time it shouldn't work like this.

Well, I definitely agree that this is something that we shouldn't have to do in order to get our mail working properly, but I'm glad that it is at least working for others as well. Maybe when Apple gets around to releasing iOS 4.0.1 we'll see a lot of these issues fixed, but I'm not going to hold my breath. I'm just happy my mail isn't getting "stuck" anymore! 🙂

Well, that's all great, but what if I am actually using my Gmail IMAP account as my main mail account?

I also have the "mail stuck in outbox" problem since iOS 4. Because my business email address is not a Gmail address, I need to use my business SMTP server to send mail. But I use Gmail to receive and read my mail. In this combination, I am still stuck with the problem 😟

I have a business exchange account and a gmail account. When I removed my old gmail imap account mail started working properly. It's still a bug but with an easy workaround. The solution is to only use imap OR exchange with gmail, but not both. I guess we all made the transition in stages and have two accounts hanging around.

I had the same problem where mails sent from apps other than the Mail App were stuck in the Outbox until I manually send them.

I was using google Sync for Mail, Contact and Calender + Google IMAP for Notes sync.

I fixed the problem by removing the IMAP Account (used only for Notes) and reset network settings.

It's now OK. But I whish Apple will fix so I can start Notes Sync again.

Same here. Had my old Google Apps IMAP account just syncing notes, my new Google Apps Activesync account, and a work email account also using activesync. Turned off notes syncing, but email sent from outside the mail app still stuck. Deleted the IMAP account (which was now totally inactive with notes sync turned off) and messages in Outbox were sent immediately. No more messages stuck in the outbox. Thanks!
