I also have a iPhone 3gs with iOS4 and the audio won't establish a bluetooth link to my Pioneer DEH-P7000BT. The phone portion, however, does connect, as others have mentioned. Both worked fine under iOS 3.1. I'm going to forward this issue to Pioneer and Apple--and I encourage everyone reading this thread to do the same! Please let us know if you can get any fix info!

What some of you guys need to understand is even though the iphone supports bluetooth protocals, its not going work with everything on the market unless otherwise tested.

It possible that with software updates that there are revisions that cause issues however trying to get Apple to make their iphone compatible with your bluetooth device is almost entirely impossible because first of all they didnt make your bluetooth device.

They make the phone and the software, not the millions of different bluetooth devices out there by other 3rd party companies. Those companies will likely have to update their bluetooth devices to work with the iphone.

I understand what Kensei is saying, but whats the point of having a wireless "standard" if the new versions of the technology aren't backward compatible? I know that tech doesn't last forever, but I just got my bluetooth stereo last year, and I really shouldn't have to buy a new deck already. Either Apple or the Bluetooth folks should insure that there stuff is uniform and standard across technologies--isn't that the whole point?

You are going on the assumption that Apple is the one implementing the standard improperly. There are at least two devices involved in your situation, how can you rule out the stereo as the problem? It is entirely possible that Apple did not properly implement the bluetooth standard. It is also entirely possible that the manufacturer of the stereo did not implement the bluetooth standard properly.

I have had no issues with bluetooth since updating to iOS4.

A perfectly valid assumption, given that the devices worked before Apple's update.

Apple was the only thing that changed. Either Apple implemented the standard improperly in the update, or it was implemented improperly in the previous version. Or the standard changed between versions.

Can't be any other way.

Similar problem on my Pioneer DEH-3200UB. I'm using the cable to connect to the deck, not bluetooth I get an Error-11. I posted my support experience here:

http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=11734543

And for the record, while I don't use the bluetooth to connect to the deck, I have had problems with it connecting to my Plantronics Pro bluetooth headset. It either randomly connects or audio drops out intermittently since the update. So for those who are having no problems, congratulations.

I emailed Pioneer the other day concerning the A2DP issue with my 3GS (with iOS 4) and the DEH-7000bt. I just received a response from them although I will not be able to try it out till this evening.

FWIW, here is their response:

Thank you for contacting Pioneer Electronics, Inc.
You would need to power shut down on the iPhone.
I would also suggest going into our initial setting menu and clearing the Bluetooth.
Once you have reset the phone and the radio, pair the two devices again.
When you upgraded your phone, you changed your profile information.

Thank You,
