I was afraid that this would happen. Another disappointing moment in technology.

I made a pretty sweet mod that I recommend to everyone with this problem. Buy the Kensington Car mount kit ( http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0031U1AUU), which mounts to the windshield and displays at eye level. I made a simple mod that fits perfectly with a couple of drops of superglue that mounts the cable perfectly in the slot at the bottom. This mod allows me to slide my phone in and uses the ipod controller in the radio for playing songs/playlists.

It would be nice to automatically pair the phone but honestly having the phone dock on my dash is a really nice improvement.

Summary:

Problem with A2DP Protocol, After upgrading to IOS 4.0.1 protocol does not work, do not connect.

Steps to Reproduce:

Delete all settings on the phone about the pioneer deh-p600bt. Do this on the radio. The first time you connect perfectly, other times just connect the handsfree, the A2DP does not connect.

With version 3.1.3 it worked perfectly.

Notes:

In the support forum there are plenty of threads regarding this. Please, users need an answer as a solution.

Look at this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2469559&tstart=15

Two months we have been unable to hear music in the car.

Could you please attach your device log to the bug report. Device logs can be retrieved via the Organizer in Xcode. Or, from the iPhone Configuration Utility:

1. Download and install iPCU from http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/enterprise/
2. Launch iPCU, then connect device with USB cable
3. Click the Console tab in iPCU
4. Reproduce the problem
5. Click the “Save as” button to save the log to a text file.
6. Attach the text file to the bug report

Okay, I followed the steps. The handsfree connected perfectly, no A2DP connected. I've logged in with IPCU and sent him a log file.

I hope you find a solution quickly. There are many people that have this problem, you can consult this forum thread for more information;

No apple response :S

Now that we know that ios 4.1 did not do anything to address our problem with A2DP holding it's paring, we all need to redouble our efforts to let Apple know that they STILL have some work to do for us...

Please go to: http://www.apple.com/feedback/

Let Apple know that we expect them to deliver on their promises to fix Bluetooth by November when they release 4.2!

As of right now there have not been any firmware updates issued to resolve any iPhone issues.

I dont know if this helps but audio appears to get allocated to either the dock connector or via Bluetooth depending on the most recent connection request. For example, in my car, if I plug my phone straight into the docking connector it is quicker to establish this connection than link to the BT phone interface so the audio will default to BT. The way to find out is to go into iPod when docked and there should be a tiny BT symbol at the bottom of the screen. Press the symbol (it is really sensitive) and then a pop up appears. Choose either Dock or BT as the output for audio.

Hope this helps?

Like others, I am still having the problem after updating to 4.1. Not impressed. Yes I could insert the cable but I get the not compatible and not charging messages. The Audio connection works but the iphone is not charged. This is useless if I am using Satnav on the phone!

I am disapointed with Apple. I have reported bugs as well as many others. Apple clearly ignore or do not read this forum.

Bluetooth and Apple: they're not in Love i would say.

I have a pioneer fh-p80bt and i was very surprised to find out thatr A2DP worked perfect in IOS 3. I am an iPhone User from the first hour and ever since i waited for Bluetooth Audiostreaming to work.

It's really sad to see how bad Apple treats their customers.

A customer of mine is very afraid of Updates. 2 of 3 Updates broke the Command Center of his Mercedes CLS.
And it's not like you could choose to go for the updates. Most of the times they address security issues. So to be safe you have to install them.

If you want something that works with bluetooth - do not go for the iPhone.

Here's another "workaround." At this moment, WalMart sells the Scosche FMT 4R FM transmitter for $10.85. It's out of stock online, but was in stock at my local store. It plugs into the headphone jack and works very well. It's far less convenient than my Motorola 505T and makes it very hard to also use an handsfree for the phone function, but I make few calls and so until Apple corrects the problem I'll be able to listen to books and music.
