i'm a little late at figuring this out, but could it be possible that this is a result of AirPlay being introduced in the latest version so Apple disabled A2DP?

Sorry, but major flaw in your logic. Millions of iPhone users utilize A2DP without any issues.

I have never experienced an issue with A2DP on my 3GS with any version of iOS.

There's a flaw in his logic because the "millions of iPhone users utilize A2DP without any issues", yourself included? Sounds like the pot calling the kettle black. Talk about fallacious logic!

Just because it works for you doesn't mean that it works for everyone else. Oh, and I just want to make sure you understand: A2DP isn't your bluetooth earpiece. A2DP is Bluetooth audio streaming. If you're talking about bluetooth capabilities, then well, we're not talking about the same thing.

Aside, Apple can't and shouldn't have to do regression testing if their implementation of A2DP is standard--there's just too many Bluetooth devices out there! That's what standards are for! I've read about A2DP problems with Ford SYNC, Pioneer, and SONY products, so given this fact, it's highly unlikely that all three manufacturers implemented A2DP in a non-standard way. FURTHERMORE, Apple's implementation is likely the flawed one, and they were just lucky that they got it to work with 3.1.3.

A2DP is broken. It's been broken since the first release of iOS4. And I have no confidence that Apple will fix it. As long as they don't fix it, I personally won't upgrade to iOS4, and when I am due for a phone upgrade, it won't be an Apple phone. I'm sure Apple and anyone else reading this won't care...

Nothing new to add. Just another victim. My iPhone 4 syncs fine for calls every time, but must be manually resynced every time the car starts to get the A2DP Bluetooth streaming to work.

What's weird is that sometimes the manual syncing allows me to Play/Pause from the headunit and sometimes it doesn't.

As others have described, when I start the car I can see both the phone and headphone lights on the right side of my Pioneer FH-8000BT head unit blink as they search for my phone. After a few seconds, the phone light goes solid and the headphone light goes black.

I religious check this topic to see if any progress has been made and get excited every time a new iOS update comes out hoping it'll fix my problem. No luck yet.

I just tried it with the new iOS 4.3 update and the problem is still there. Telephone works fine; BT audio works on first pairing but re-pairing after power-off does not work. Unless you want to re-pair every time you turn on the car, you have to plug in to listen to music.

Whatever this problem is, neither Apple nor Pioneer seem interested in fixing it.

Yep, IOS4 stil *****. I have upgraded from 4.0 to 4.01, to 4.1 to 4.2 through 4.3.1 and I stll cant use my BT Audio feature on my Pioneer stereo. Yes, it worked perfectly on IOS3. I paid a lot of money for my original iphone, 3G, 3GS, iphone4, macbook pro, and ipad2. Im glad to see that apple couldnt care less about my issue. If you call support they will tell you that they have never heard of the issue and blame it on Pioneer. It is still Pioneer's fault even after I told them it worked perfect and I used it EVERYDAY until I upgraded to IOS4.i guess they are not allowed to get on the internet in the support department, because the TS engineer would not even do a google search so I could prove to him that I was not lieing about this being a well-known issue.

I have given Apple over $5000 of my hard-earned money, but I can promise that they will never get another red cent from me... not that they care. This is what happens when companies get too big... They stop caring about their end users.

Well, almost 2 years after the original poster's message, and evidently still no fix. Starting to think there probably won't be one at this point. Add me to the list of disappointed/frustrated/ticked off/pulling my hair out customers with a Pioneer FH-P8000BT that worked flawlessly on 3.x. After 4.x, BT Audio will only re-connect by starting over from scratch EVERY time. Not a workable solution.

I do have one thought though, as all the evidence points to the A2DP stuff. I'm by no means a techie, but does anyone with, ummmm, a "special" iPhone know where in the file structure the bluetooth (drivers?) are stored? Maybe find an old 3.x firmware, copy the applicable files, and then paste them into the new 4.x version. Would that work???

Add me to the list also, using a DEH-700BT

As already mentioned, only way I've managed to get it working is to remove connected/paired info from head unit and Iphone 4 each time I want to stream and perform the pairing process again.

I would imagine that the incompatibilty could lay partly with the head unit also if people are utilising other A2DP connections with IOS 4.01 and other hardware.

I live in hope of a fix, hopefully before the 5 hits the streets.

Hi,

i'm having the same problem with iphone.

It's making me crazy.

I have a BT handsfree unit with BT Audio support installed in my Audi car radio.

Handsfree is pairing always and automaticly, but Bluetooth audio shows only the "Airplay button" on ipod app. With selected car A2DP device in ipod app no sound on car speakers! If i switch back to iphone i hear music on iphone speakers. Switch back to car A2DP device again no sound. 😠

Only after rebooting the iphone the BT-Audio music plays immediately over car speakers.

Why do i have to reboot the iphone everytime again to hear music over A2DP?

Tried two iphone 3GS with iOS 4.2 upwards, none working.

Another phone from another brand is working well (phone & A2DP music), so Apple please do something.

Thanks Pappl

Another victim here! Bought Iphone 4 about a month ago,and im using it with a Parrot MKi 9100 BT car kit.I've noticed that when the phone is connected to the car kit via bluetooth while a GPS application is launched,i get no voice directions from it.The first time i paired the two devices after updating them to the latest firmware (currently using 4.3.3 on my Iphone and version 1.90 on my MKi9100) seemed to word kinda fine...I got sound directions from the GPS through the car's speakers although the sound was really low and hard to listen.I set the sound options to max and got no better result. Moreover there was a delay from the time the r/cd was cut off in order to get the directions from TomTom GPS application to the time they were coming out of the speakers,so i was getting something like " .....dred meters, turn right".Later the same evening i got back into the car and connected the devices again only this time when i had the iphone connected and the gps working i got no directions from it whatsoever...Is this related to the A2DP protocol?Or is something else i could possibly try?Thx for your time!

Ive never had much use for Bluetooth, then i got a Sabre Handsfree, sounds cool, watching tv in car and listening through My Volvo Sound system, BUT.....I recently bought a I_Wave Bluetooth Music Reciever 30 pin dock onto speaker and bob's your uncle, apart from every seconds theres a half second drop, and on it goes, 12345drop12345drop12345drop....get the picture, now i wonder if all the timimgs are 5 or six seconds, if so, im not a genius but that would in my eyes sound like a clock, frequencie problem, like pc's run a clock.....anyway we paid all this money out for the best bit of kit on the Planet and a simple comms prob, i wonder if this is hardware, otherwise by now i think this would have been fixed......Sonos runs bluetooth,,,,so my I phone cant do what they said it can do, so there for in a court of law i could be due for a full refund, and while i'm at it, for two years the 3g network with one of the big ones here in the uk as been none exsistent, my phone, 3rd one, one replaced by apple, ( Thanks ) as never been any good on 3g....if this is not going to be solved, i want a phone, not a games hand held........DOES APPLE READ THIS IF SO I COULD BE MISSING AN END RESULT HERE....As this problem been resolved, if not then this also might be a problem on th IPad, which my wife is due to by me, On Hold until i get reasurance this as a fix, and its not hardware, if so then my love of music, it would be a waste of time us buying two IPads, dont you???

😠😠😠
