Car stereo doesn't recognize USB after updrage to iOS 4

After the upgrade, I plugged device into USB port on stereo and it now says read error on the head unit. Kenwood has no official help as of today other than to say they only support up to 3gs, no reference to OS version. Model number is KDC-X693. Anyone else run into this or have suggestions?

I'll drop back to version 3 before I let a nice unit that's not even 6 months old be rendered unusable. Kenwood might be able to fix this with a firmware update (still not sure how to on this unit), but this has to be something Apple did in it's update, since it worked perfectly fine before. I'm finding similar issues with various manufacturers when researching.

Just because it said "Made for ipod" doesnt mean that if apple do a major change (like what iOS4 is) that its going to instantly be supported !
We arent even 24hrs past the release of the firmware!
It may take some time for firmware updates for Alpine \ Kenwood units to roll through! Im yet to check and see if it works on my DDX812 (kenwood)

Yeah, you know what? It should.

Apple knows very well that almost everyone on the planet has an iPod/iPhone and most likely some peripheral to go along with it and that they have some "lifelong" customers. There are some "legacy" things that haven't changed yet (connection port anyone?) and shouldn't ever change if they are going to keep updating the line. Kinda reminds me when many many accessories were deemed obsolete when they discontinued firewire support on the i line...until the Schoshe Passport came out, anyway.
