After upgrading to IOS4 on my 3G touch I can not connect to any wireless access points. I have tested on the two at my work and two at home. I put in the WPA key and it appears to connect but I do not get assigned an IP address through DHCP. I have tried setting everything static but I still can not browse. I have restored my touch back to 3.1.3 and they all work great. I then upgraded back to 4.0 and can not connect to anything. I restored the network settings on the ipod and disabled security on the access points with no change. I am very tech savy but my inability to connect to 4 access points tells me that it is my touch but the old firmware works great. My touch is stock and had never been jailbroken. Any ideas?

Join the club ... my 2G iPod Touch gets all the proper IP credentials, I even get the "3 bars icon" at the upper left screen corner, but NO Wi-Fi reception otherwise.
BTW ... what's the issue with jailbroken iPods I keep reading about ... just curious!
Good thing I'm not relying on this device for much other than amusement, because it's NOT very amusing!
You have to have to iPod either "Forget this Network" in the wifi settings and set it up again or reset the network settings-this means you lose all of the wifi points you have on the iPod. I chose the second, but didn't have many of them to lose.
Haven't tried ios4 on my iPod yet, but my connection to my home WiFi with WPA2-PSK AES works just fine with an iPhone 3GS and ios4. It connected without any problems and net functions are completely normal (WiFi works on the iPhone both with Airplane mode on and off). Anyone else having trouble with this on iPod?
My 8GB 2G iPod Touch was successfully upgraded. But noticed that the WiFi bar kept dropping from 3 to 1 and returning to 3 quite constantly. But never lost the connection. Even switched off the router and reconnected, it caught on perfectly. But still there is a drop in signal strength quite regularly.
To hpoirot, What security do you have on your access point (router)? If your signal strength is fluctuating a lot, are you sure you're connecting to your own access point and not another/others near by?
@KumbiaKid....the router is my home wifi router and is secured with WEP security code set by me..also mine is the only wifi port available in and around my apartment..there are no stray signals and my device always connects to this signal only..
I took my touch over to my parents house last night and had the same issue trying to connect to their wireless. It says it connects but pulls a 169.x.x.x address. When I set it manually it still won't browse. The only wireless I have been able to connect to that works is my Android phones wireless tether. Again I have tried all security settings on the access points and even turned off encryption completely without any change.
I have the same problem. But what is wierd is that I can't connect to my home network (No encryption) but I can connect to my work network (WPA) I have an iPod touch 2nd gen. Also I have 10 gbs of "Other" data that wasn't their in 3.1.3 :/
