iOS4.0 update, apps not authorised.

Has anyone had any problems with apps? I tried to sync mine over this morning but it told me my computer wasn't authorised, even though it was. Tried deauthorising then authorising again, but no luck. It wouldn't let me sync any of the apps over. I think I'm going to have to download them all again, which is annoying, but if anyone has had the same problem with a solution I'd prefer to try that.

So I think I know what happened, because it also happened to me. Likely you upgraded to the new version of itunes 9.2 and then it deletes all your backups and apps. Then you sync your phone thinking it's backing up.

When you get some message when restoring that says "Warning you have content that needs to be transfered" you think well I just did a backup so it's fine, and then go ahead with the restore.

Now after the restore you have no apps, but all your contacts and etc are fine.

What happened to me was right after that restore message, I go into the Apps section of my iphone, but then try to sync apps but then iTunes tells me it will delete everything on my phone, and so of course I say no.

One critical thing that would have resolved this, is that immediately following the itunes update, you're supposed to go to the iphone icon, right click and press Transfer Purchases. Why oh why do they not make this part of the sync application. HORRIBLE. I now spent 3 hours getting everything back, but lost any settings/game files I had on my iphone.

My wife's iPhone had this issue. All of the following was done from her Mac laptop where she syncs her iPhone. If you select Apps in iTunes where you normally go to look for app updates, you'll see icons for all of your apps. And if you select the iPhone in iTunes and go to the Apps tab, you'll see all of your apps listed and you would think you would be able to just sync them as normal. BUT ...
If you look in Finder > Music > iTunes > Mobile Applications you will see that not all of the IPA files are there. This was the situation with my wife's iPhone.

I used Time Machine to go back to where I could see all of her missing apps in Finder > Music > iTunes > Mobile Applications and I performed a restore to the current day's folder. When asked, I kept the older, original file and replaced any newer applications.

Next I shut down iTunes and went to Music > iTunes > Mobile Applications. I selected "all" and hit CMD-Open (same as double-clicking on a single file). Don't ask me why this works, but I have used this to share individual apps from her compueter/iPhone to mine.

Upon hitting CMD-Open, iTunes reopened and I clicked replace each time the message window said the application already existed.

Next, in iTunes, I downloaded all of the available updates for her apps. There were over 50 updates because I had reloaded old versions. After they were all updated, I selected her iPhone in iTunes and went to the Apps tab. I tried to load just one of the apps that would not reload previously. It loaded. So the next to the last step was for her to go back down through the list and select all the apps she wanted to sync. When she synced, they all appeared to load fine.

The last step she wants to do is to move the apps around the way she wants them and sync one last time.

im having all sorts of problems. with every upgrade ive done on my 3g ive had to take it in to apple for them to restore my phone to factory settings. this time i got it to work after continuously trying. 22 hours later, my ringtones are finally back on. the music is playing. and my apps are all there, minus a few that said they werent authorized and also some didnt have a valid signature. so ridiculous.

now im scared to re-sync my phone.
