iOS4.0 update, apps not authorised.

as well as losing my contacts, I've also 'lost' my apps.

when the iPhone is connected to the computer, the apps show up on the arrange page - but not on the iPhone itself.
So they are sync'd but not showing up on the OS.

After my 3G miraculously being turned into a brick I finally have it to a stage of restoring a back up, but the app pages are not how I left them. Still restoring so I don't even know if my phone works at this point. Better than the brick it was, I suppose....

Mine is still restoring after being bricked. Man, I hope my Notes and Contacts are intact. I WILL BE ******...!

I have the same problem after restoring to backup with iOS4 and I have no idea how to fix it. Even when I try to re-download the purchased apps individually from itunes, it wants me to pay for them again. I'm hoping someone comes up with a solution.

Got it backed up and working but it either did not restore from my last backup or that backup was corrupted somehow. I have other iphone backups showing so I'm not restoring again with crossed fingers. I lost some important notes and a couple contacts.

I suspect the backup before the update that started this mess about three hours ago did not complete or is not recognized.

My situation seems different, though. My apps are listed on the arrange page in iTunes, but none of them have icons next to them. This sounds similar to what the OP mentioned. I can't even redownload the apps on the app store without paying again - even though my purchase history is completely visible under the account seciont, which makes it that much more strange. Anybody have any idea how one might go about fixing this?

Agreed. I'm at a loss with how to fix this.

I'm not sure if authorize is the right word...if I recall correctly it kept trying to get me to "apply changes" when I tried to sync them. In the place of all of your app icons on the arrange page, do you only have a grey "A" icon next to all of them?
