iPhone 3GS reboots during your phone call after updating to OS4

I have a major problem with the OS4 update on the iPhone 3GS. After I updated my iPhone 3GS, I can no longer make telephones calls longer then 10 - 15 minutes. After 10 -15 minutes the phone cuts out and I see an Apple symbol. After it's rebooted, I can make another telephone call but the iPhone reboots consistently again after 10 – 15 minutes. Can anyone help with this? Where on apples website can I submit this problem?

I have also noticed that the iPhone now heats up more quickly and the battery consumption is eaten rapidly. How do I fix this?

And before you ask, this never happened before in the previous OS3.

Same problem here, both with versions iOS4 and iOS4.0.1. White apple of death on black screen, randomly from about 3 minutes into a call, but once when not on a call but simply listening to iTunes in the car.

Tried switching off 3G, tried changing localisation info (using English OS and internationalisation parameters on French SFR network), tried switching off Bluetooth, tried switching off Wifi, tried rebooting phone, tried re-installing several times : none of these has cured the problem.

I would happily revert to OS3 if able to do so. First time with Apple, risking being the last.

This problem is discussed in much greater length on the following message board:

I suggest you go there to compare notes with us other affected owners of 3GS iPhones.

But before you get too excited, despite many many suggested workarounds there the only permanent solution is a replacement phone (which I've just been given by Apple in the Genius Bar in Paris).

Good luck.

Try checking how many apps are running. First double click the home button to bring up the apps at the bottom of the screen. Press and hold on one of the app icons. Minus ➖ signs will then appear in the top left hand corner of the icon. Tap the icon to close the open app. Keep closing all the icons until none remain. This is different to uninstalling apps with the 'x' in the top left corner. I had about a g'zillion open and I think it was chewing up the memory. No assurances, but it's worth a try. I've been having the same problem with phone rebooting after 5-10 mins.

2 months later and I went to Apple store. First they said I had a memory problem as I was leaving all the task windows open. Went home and 1st phone call rebooted! Went following week and Apple have replaced my iphone with a "new" phone - it is not a new phone as the battery is down to 35% after 10 hours and only 1 phone call!!!Going back to Apple!! Firmware problem is the reason for the rebooting and only a replacement phone can fix it, so the genius bar said.
