iOS 4 - battery drains much quicker after update

Has anyone else experienced this?

I know that multitasking should not affect the battery however, in a matter of 30 mins my iPhone 3GS used 35% battery, with no data intensive usage etc.

I never experienced this prior to the update.

It ***** that there is an issue with many of the upgrades. This has happened quite often to me. Each time, you have to hunt for the issue/program/apps that are now causing an issue and were fine before the upgrade. I have been upgrading the last 2/3 months in hopes that one will fix the battery life that got killed by an upgrade. Every morning, EVERY day, I wake up to 2 or 3% battery life and have to plug it in to get through the day.

The "problem" is that starting with ios4, WIFI is enabled ALL the time, not just when you are using an app that makes use of a wi-fi connection. This was done so that the device can receive PUSH updates from the internet even when the app is not being used. The unfortunate side effect of this is quick battery draining, especially on older devices that were not originally designed with "always-on WIFI" in mind.) The solution is to disable your wifi whenever you are not using an app that doesn't require it. Or just dont update past 3.x like me, but this leaves you unable to use newer apps.
