I'm not crazy. I'm 20 and have great hearing. I'm used to using my iPhone as a "shower radio" and now after the 4.0 update the volume of my phone is decreased. I've checked the settings and the volume lock (or whatever it is called) is not set. Anyone having the same issue ?
I've searched, looked through some of the problem threads but have seen nothing..
Same here.
I have the iphone 3gs and ever since i got the update, when i try to listen 2 music from the speaker, the volume is missing 1/4. the volume increases normally but once i get a little over half way it doesn't get any louder. This is Bull
**. But when i listen 2 a ringtone it is just as loud as it was before and my phone calls. only the ipod part is being affected.
So this appears to becoming a widespread problem, (BTW I have maxed the volume limit and the sound is still lower than before the update)...
So is this meant to have happened or is Apple not aware of this problem since the update? Anyone know?
I have the same issue while listening on my car stereo and connecting to the headphone jack. I don't think this is a new feature as I noticed the volume would increase sporadically to almost normal levels then drop down again. I'm thinking this is a bug and I hope Apple fixes it soon! I've tried resetting the volume limit to make sure it's truly off. I'll try disabled the equalizer this afternoon to see if that improves the situation.
***,,,i have the same prob in my iphone 3GS for iOS 4.0 software updated. i have low volume in my ipod and its way too low. I have tried everything but still the same problem.Guys any help
Same issue with me too. I don't listen to it through the speaker but I have noticed a big drop in playback volume through my earphones. I used to have an iPod Nano and when I got my iPhone (on 3.1.3) at the time, I noticed a significant increase in volume between the Nano and the iPhone and was very pleased by this as I thought the Nano was a bit low for me and not enough bass.
Since updating to OS 4.0, the volume and reduced to what my Nano used to be and the sound is a LOT flatter. I hate it when any manufacturers do this. I love my iPhone but unless this is fixed soon, I'll be buying another MP3 player with louder volume and will use that in future, which will mean Apple will lose a valuable iTunes customer.
I've noticed this too - workaround is definitely to turn off EQ - My guess is that Apple lowered the volume on music to accomodate for the EQ, as in all the previous iOS releases, any EQ setting gave massive distortion and crackling.
Yes I believe it's affecting everyone ... I noticed that as soon as I played a song and it also makes it sound dissorted. That's the main reason why I went back to 3.1.3 and now everything is back to normal. The multi tasking is still not working great as all the apps need to support that, so for now I'm fine with my 3.1.3 till they release an update to fix that problem
I'm jumping in here to say I have had a horrible time since ios4 hearing phone calls. I have everything turned all the way up and it still sounds like someone is talking across the room softly
Same sort of problem here. I have a 3G phone and installed the IOS4. Since then my ringtone and ipod volume is much lower, also the volume of my boyfriends phone (3GS).
Hope apple comes up with a fix soon, can;t even here my phone ring when on my bike. ***!!!
I too have the same problem.
Volume got decreased to almost half.
New OS should atleast not screw-up the existing features.
I think they screwed-up the volume setting when improving iPod features in iPhone like allowing users to create/edit the playlists on the fly on iPhone.
Please Fix this.
I have also noticed a lower volume after the update. Switching off the EQ restores, some volume, but the volume is definitely less.
I was comfortable listening through my earphones at just 1 point over the half way mark. Now I have to crank it to at least 75% to get the same volume. It seems that iOS4 is buggy.
Glad to see I'm not the only one with this issue.. I guess...
Yea it's deff annoying for sure. No more shower radio for me. My EQ has always been off, Volume limit set to max.. And sound check is off. This is a code issue with the ios4 update..
Hope it's accidental and they're working to solve the issue.. 😟
