My earlier reaction to my problem was hasty. First it looks like there are different but related problems within this group. Mine is specifically that when I press the App Store app icon I get Cannot connect to iTunes Store.

While all I reported earlier was indeed the case, upon further testing I found I could access the store with the same iPad 5.1.1 on my home network but when I came back to work it still failed.

I tried another 5.1.1 at work and it failed. I tried a 6.1.1 at work and it succeeded.

I compared network settings for all 3 devices and they had the same DNS settings which some felt was the problem. I did a cursory check of my network Watchguard and found that the 5.1.1 attempts were being blocked.

By itself this points to 5.1.1 BUT others are having this problem with versions of iOS 6. I will pursue this with my network guy and report back.

This is what worked for me:

Set the Date Forward and Revert Back

– Open the Settings app and go to General > Date & Time

– On the Date & Time screen, tap to turn off ‘Set Automatically’

– Tap on ‘Set Date & Time’ and enter a date a couple of years or more in the future.

– Go out of Settings and then straight back in and turn ‘Set Automatically’ to restore the current date and time.

I have been through this thread and many others for the last 2 weeks. I have tried everything but none of these fixes helped me. Finally I was about to delete all data and restore ipad to factory default. Before doing so I created an iCloud account and backed up all my data. Now, for some reason I can connect to the App Store and download updates. Go figure! Must have been the threat of killing its little if iBrain. Very disappointed in Apple for not getting involved with this fault which is affected a lot of people. ********!

Same issue as everyone else, and troubleshooted issue to the maximum.

Issue: unable to open itunes on iphone 5, 1 laptop and 1 PC.

Error: Unable to open itunes (or very similar) depending on the device i'm accessing it from.

Strange thing is, I can access a DIFFERENT itunes account on my iphone, PC and laptop WITHOUT any issue - this obviously indicates it's NOT a connectivity issue with any of my equipment - despite Apple of course trying to pull that one!

Oh, and to throw a further spanner in the works, I can access Itunes and App Store on my iPad without any issue at all.

Anyone care to tackle this?
