The speakerphone is not working on my phone. Has anyone else had this problem? wondering if I should try calling or going to the store.

Ok this is what happened to my iphone 4S 32G white: all of a sudden recently the speaker stopped working when playing video or music, Speaker works in all other use case like ring tone, talking on the phone with speaker on, voice memo recording and play back etc. I can never get the volume control bar anytime the head phone is disconnected from the phone! Tried all the different suggestion posted earlier in this forum, nothing worked, restored it back to factory default same thing, blow dry, head phone jack tissue paper etc, nothing. Took it to apple store last night, the first genious immediately concluded its a software issue something called spring board got corrupted during sync etc. This showed up in his diagnostic when he connected my phone to his mac. Option is need to do some" special" restore at the store (not itune restore to factory default) and re-install OS but warned me i cannot use my existing itune back up (since that backup also has the corruption) to restore all my data meaning all pics txt etc will be gone, i have re-sync my music, etc. I said i will wait and frist copy my pics and videos atleast along with my phone contacts to my pc first. Came back home did all that. By the way that iCloud thing ,, that is a pure POS, can't even backup only my contacts to iCloud within 5G limit, gave me constant error of not enough space even i was not backing up literally anything. .Anyway went back to Apple store this morning , talked to 2nd genious , he was nice and immediately concluded that the porblem is temporary and known , somehow the phone is thinking its in headphone mode and thats why no sound. He put the phone on a speaker dock and while music is playing hard reset the phone, interstingly agfter power up, the sound control did came back and i can hear mucis or video sound through speakers! Thanked the guy and left the store happy thinking issue is resolved. While still in the mall, listened to few songs on head phone and when i went back to speaker the same **** problem came back 😟. OK, went back to store and first talked to another genious, he concluded its a hardware issue, not software. Ended up talking to the same guy who helped me in the morning and he was real nice this time too and offered me 2 options try restore SW or swap the Hardware. I told him i want a new phone since SW restore already did not worked for me . He gave me a new phone wihin 10 min with some virtual paper work in his iPad... very cool and fluently done. Anyway the message is, if you encunter problem like mine, assume its a HW issue and take to the store for a quick replacement. Back up your original phone first before going to phone so you can later restore from that back up in case you end up getting a new phone. Hope this helps

I have been having a problem with hearing any sound in video play back and then with Facetime. I took a needle and VERY carefully cleanned out the TINY slit in the top of my ipad and viola! It works perfectly now...it's so small that even the tiniest bit of lint or dirt makes you not be able to hear. So glad I did this before going into the Apple store.
