Saving to flash drive

Choose Save or Save As from the File menu, click the blue button with the triangle, and navigate to the flash drive. To move a previously saved document to the drive, locate it in the Finder and drag it to the icon representing the drive in the sidebar.

Probably the easiest way is to insert the flash drive, wait until it mounts (it will show up on the Mac desktop), then simply drag whatever you want to copy onto the image of the flash.

When I insert the flash drive nothing happens.

Depending on how the computer is set, the flash drive may appear on the desktop, in the sidebar, both, or neither. It won't automatically produce a window when connected. The settings are in the General and Sidebar tabs of the Finder's preferences.

Does that mean my flash drive is not compatable with the macbook.

No.

Do you need a special kind of flash drive?

No.
