iPhone 4 will not turn on

The title says it all. I opened the box. I plugged it into my MacBook. Nothing. I pressed the buttons, held the buttons, tried a different cable, connected it to the charger and waited an hour...

nothing.

Anyone know anything that can make a good iPhone refuse to turn on, or did I get a bad one?

MacBook 2.4 GHz, Mac OS X (10.6.4), iPhone 4 32GB Black

The solution - FOLLOW carefully

1: plug your i device into your computer and open itunes

press and hold both buttons for ten seconds then keep holding the home button but let go of power for 20 seconds

itunes should then say your phone is in recovery mode.

you will hear and see nothing on the i device.

recover it in itunes, if this doesnt work messege me at ox141jf@hotmail.co.uk

Same Problem iPhone 4S, 3 Months old

My battery was low, but it never did this before

Plugged in Charger, Didn't See Battery Charging Bar

Pushed power button, nothing

Pushed Home button, Nothing

Read this post, Let Phone Charge 5 Minutes

Held BOTH Power & Home Buttons down

After 15 Seconds of holding both buttons, Apple ICON appeared

Battery Charge Bar indicated 25% Charge

Unit Now Seems Normal.

I'm guessing a very low battery may have caused unit to turn itself off

and with low battery, the phone resists being turned on.

I've been experiencing this same problem many times where my phone randomly turns off, however it usually turns back on after a few minutes. Last night it died again however this morning i've checked it and it hasn't turned back on and I used the method to restore it and it worked however i haven't backed my phone up for a while and i don't want to loose all my photos. Is there anything I can do to back up my phone whilst its off or anyway the people at apple can? Thanks

Thanks all for your views. My phone just went dead. It came off charger at 75% and when I tried to turn on blank screen. Eventually found this site and held down home key and the power key together for 10 seconds and hey presto the little white apple lit up the screen but nothing else, so plugged in the charger and the green battery charger lit up. Now its on and working fine. The phone is two years old.

my iphone 4s was useless today, I couldn't turn it on or even answer a call.

based on this page, I tried to recover but it removes everything from the phone and i dont like it at all.

it just needed a simple restart, i did this steps:

1. hold both home and power buttons for 10 sec

2. only release the power and continue holding home button

3. release it when you see the Apple sign.

4. wait until it restarts your phone.

my phone is back like as it was, recovery is a big mistake in this situation.

Thanks to Anh Phat
