The ActiveSync Tester from AccessMyLan is a simple free-to-use tool for assisting in the diagnosis of Microsoft Exchange (ActiveSync) mail issues. The tool simulates an ActiveSync client and provides detailed diagnostic information on problems encountered. Exchange 2003 and Exchange 2007 environments are supported

OK used activesync tester and everything reports as OK there.

Can you please give me an example of the CNAME record and A Host records that you remove/create. I am a novice at servers however am very quick to learn.

I created some DNS records the other day for some internal website so know where to find them edit etc however not sure which ones to edit for the iPhone exchange issue.

Cheers,
Ian

I've had the issues outlined in this thread. iOS3 on a 3Gs was working fine, upgraded to iOS 4.0.0, needed the 'time out fix' working again. Now we are using either iPhone 3Gs and 4 on iOS 4.1 the Unable to verify has reared it's ugly head again.

Reading everyone elses comments I did the following:
Change OWA settings in IIS to use specific IP addrees and not all.
Added the :433 on the end of the FQDN
Removed the NETBIOS Domain name
Changed user name to full AD name i.e. username@domain.local

I did get promted for my password. Now I look at my settings and the iPhone has removed the :443 after the address, but it is still working. More importantly the MD's new iPhone 4 is now up and runng!!!!

My existing exchange server connection worked before the upgrade and still works now.
The problem seems to be that I cannot add any new users.
I tried my internal IP address for Exchange but didn't work.
All settings on the new are account are the same as the old account but it gives "Unable to verify account information".
I am working without SSL on this connection

Okay so I ran into this problem today and having recently run into something similar for a client setting up his mobile device I decided to perform the same check. On the Exchange server go in and reset the Internet Connection through the wizard and verify that a) the settings are correct for the domain, b) that Outlook Mobile Access is enabled, and c) the certificate is legitimate or current.

I'm completely desperate and dissapointed with this issue because other users have other mobile devices (BBs & Samsung Galaxy) and they hadn't problems to configure the Exchange account.

Version: iPhone 3GS

Model: MC637Y

iOS: 4.3.1 (8GA)

Server: Exchange 2003 SP2

OWA: https://webmail.domain.com

Security certificate: IPS CA A1 Class (included in the iOS's Trusted Root Certificates: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4415?viewlocale=es_ES)

I tried to configure my Exchange account in so many ways but I always obtain the same error:

"Unable to verify your account information"

Finally today I installed the trusted root certificates in my iPhone without any positive result.

Any help would be appreciated.

Here is what worked for me:

I was continuously getting the "Unable to Verify" error immediately after putting in my mail settings.

I tried using the IP address of my mail server and got the expected certificate error as my certificate is tied to mail.company.com not the IP address. This tells me it is an DNS related issue because the communication on the IP layer was successful. I then tried to ping mail.company.com and my computer was unable to resolve the hostname. I gave the DNS provider a call and found that one of their DNS servers was down and they had forgot to add the A record on the backup server. Once they added the A record it was just a matter of flushing the DNS cache and everything worked. I downloaded a nice free tool to help troubleshoot ActiveSync issues from the app store called "access my Lan ActiveSync Tester".

“unable to verify account information” while configuring Exchnage Accoubnt on IPhone

should be resolved irrespective of OS 3 or 4 with this settings

Had to open up port 80, not just 443 and Make sure you enable SSL on the phone.

->Go to IIS, (Internet Information Services) on the Exchange server Click to expand default website,

->Check the main list.

->The properties of OMA (right click),

->Directory security tab,

->Second section down pointing to IP Address, Domain Restrictions & change from DENIED Access to Granted...

Also do the same thing on permissions for 'microsoft-server-activesync'

->The properties of this item is what we granted access to...

Hope it helps
