4 new iphones ALL have antenna problem, Proximity sensor, etc...

After receiving 4 new iPhones (family Plan) yesterday I activated (no problems) and right away calls start dropping. Calls that I made everyday from the same part of my house on my older 3G with no problem all of a sudden drop and or have bad connections. I have reproduced this problem with all 4 phones. Not to mention the number of times I put people on hold or mute with my cheek. Reception is horrible. Feel foolish after upgrading 4 phones to get this level of service. Apple has a phrase for people like me "good customer" Any thoughts... Oh forgot to mention that one of the phones will only accept the charger cord about 3/4 of the way into the socket thereby only charging some of the time!

I have had every model of iPhone and iPhone4 is by far the worst. I drop 50% of my calls in my home where I typically drop 2%. Please do not make fun of those of us with legitimate complaints. We are here looking for solutions. I have an appointment today with a "Genius." If a case doesn't solve it, I am getting my 3Gs back out and trading this thing back in. Early adopters get the bugs. Okay, I have been one all my adult life, but I won't be a Beta tester. This is a hardware flaw. I love this iPhone, except for the... Phone.

I have owned an Iphone, Iphone 3G, Iphone 3GS and now an Iphone 4G. I am a big Apple fan. I have experienced the most issues with my Iphone 4G than I have with the other phones.

I have experienced the signal loss issue. Although, a case does seem to help my phone.

The biggest problem that I have is the proximity issue. I cannot make a call on the Iphone 4G without placing people on hold, hanging up on them, starting a Face Time call or creating key tones. This happens every call I make no matter how I hold the phone. People I talk to on the Iphone 4 all now make phone of the Iphone 4, because of the face dialing issues. I know of another person that has one and he has the same problems with his Iphone 4.

I would love to keep my phone and I am waiting until closer to my 30 day period to see if something is resolved. It does not matter how I hold the phone I still experice the face dailing issues. The proximity sensor is a major issue with the Iphone 4.

The problem is that Apple should release a statement to let people know that they are aware of these problems (proximity) and etc and will actually address them and when. So far Apple has only acknowledged the signal issue that people have complained about. Apple has stated nothing about the proximaty issue.

With no news from Apple about the proximity issues, then how can customers know that it will be addressed during the next update? We do not know when the update will be released and exactly what it will address. So are we to keep our phones past the 30 day return policy and hope that Apple actaully addresses these issues (proximity sensor issue and etc)? What if Apple does not address proximity sensor issues in the next upadate?

How do we know that Apple will actually address the proximity sensor issue in the next update? Apple has said nothing about it!

How do when the update will be released? Apple has only said it will be released in weeks!

This will be past our 30 return policy. So what if Apple does not address the proximty issue in this update? We cannot return our phones after this time and must live with the constant face dialing and etc.

I am sure that someone will say "Return your phone". I hate to agree with you, because I would like to keep my new Iphone 4. However, unless Apple addresses the this issue soon or at least releases a statement that it will be fixed in the next update, then I would suggest that Iphone 4 users take your advice and return their phones. I would suggest that no one purchase an Iphone 4 until the problems are addresed or at least a statement from Apple is released.

I hate to say it, because I love Apple products. But.... The proximity issue is a major issue with the Iphone 4 and Apple has said nothing. This forum is not the only one with users expressing concerns about the proximity issue and a few others.

no one has brought you the problem/issue/fact(in this thread) that utilizing a bluetooth device is proving to cause incredibly annoying and inconvenient interruptions in conversation (due to extremely poor, muffled, voice sound quality)...(in addition to the antenna/death(natural life)grip/signal bars/dropped calls, proximity sensor, battery life, facetime cutting off,and [am i forgetting anything?] ISSUES!!!)
...
or is it just because there are already a dozen independent threads circulating here on the matter?

I am having the same issues. First with the antenna, and now i am noticing the proximity problems. I never had any of these issues with any of my earlier Iphones.

Apple says there is a software fix for the antenna problem, I'm a little uncertain if software will do the trick.

As far as the proximity problem, i haven't heard that apple recognizes that there is a problem.

If anyone has heard anything, i would love to be in the know.

oh boy~..... since u asked... 😉
...
i bought one for my brother last week.. i've had mine for 2-3 days now.. i haven't had any real issues (causing calls to drop) with the antenna, i noticed, while playing w/the display models in the apple store, that holding the phone (naturally) not only caused the bars to drop, but also effected data transfer speeds (simple google search pages wouldn't load).. so i've tested mine w/ & w/o the bumper and again, haven't had any real (antenna-related) issues.. can't report any proximity sensor issues-i'm just not having them!

issues i have:
1)incoming texts & calls are killing FaceTime; and not only that, yesterday after getting disconnected 2-3 times, FaceTime wouldn't work.. both of us were on (working/connected) wi-fi's, and it just wasn't working. i did a brief search and was surprised to find not-one result of someone having a similar malfunction w/ it!!
2)utilizing a bluetooth is simply not working all that great! it started w/my brother &his iphone 4, before i had bought mine.. talking to him was just impossible.. couldn't make out his words, just all muffled!.. had him "reset network settings"-which worked for the rest of that day.. but it's a real serious (variable) issue.. and now i have my phone, and have been getting similar complaints (unclear, muffled voice quality)

like i said, i've only had the phone for 2-3 days.. i'll be back to report on any other issues i have (please believe it!)~let's see what else is wRONG! 😟 boy, oh'bOY!!!!
