iPhone 4 - painfully slow wi-fi performance

I've been experiencing painfully slow wifi performance (about 1/4 the speed of 3G performance) while connected to Wi-Fi.

I tried following the advice given in an Apple Support article which suggested resetting network settings. I then had to re-enter the password for my wi-fi and it seemed better for a few minutes while after doing that. But then it's back to snails pace again.

Has anyone else see this? My Wi-Fi router is a Linksys WAG325N with firmware v1.00.12. It's working fine with several macs, an iPad, an iPod Touch and an iPhone 3GS. It's only the iPhone 4 which has this problem. I can load a given web page on both my iPhone 4 and 3GS and the 3GS normally finishes before the iPhone 4 has even loaded the page title. It's that bad!

Any ideas or suggestions appreciated!

thanks,

Andrew

Same problem here guys. I tried everything. I even restored the iphone to its factory settings and reinstalled a the ios4. The customer care guy told me to toggle the airplane mode on and off a few times when the wifi gets stuck (the browser or the app store). It helps, but come on, i cant keep doing this every five minutes.. Ive had the same problem over three different wifi networks. keep this thread updated dudes.

If you have Iphone 4 with o2 wireless router (i'm on the premiere plan router) the iPhone seems to battle with the alternate channels.

Go into configurations on your wireless network and change the option to the

Interface Type: 802.11g

Should load from now on . . . . . I was having problems loading an email with nothing but one word in it and when on 3G it loaded instantly. I was miffed due tot he cost of the phone but this is the only fix I can see for the moment unless Apple update IOS4.

I too am having issues, the iphone 4 seems terrible over wifi, my 3G works 10 times faster than my new iphone 4. The wifi signal is virtually full all the time, yet when i try and upload a pic for instance via the photobucket app, it is so slow, goes on and off intermittently, eg. 120k/bps - 43k/bps - 12/kbps - 3k/bps - 0kbps then it fluctuates between very slow and nothing at all. Rang apple support and they tried to blame my router, which is the Netgear DG834GT on Sky Broadband running firmware V1.03.87. I've never had any issues with any other wireless devices, laptop, pc, printer, iphone3G, they all work fine. I've tried restoring the 4, no luck, altered the settings on my router, no luck, connected and disconnected the 4, no luck, tried it nest to the router, no luck, turned off every other wireless device, no luck.

Surely apple wouldn't make a device only capable of connecting via certain wifi routers????

Can anyone help??

Having trouble with my Airport wifi. Turns out the N in the phone does not support 5Ghz. A little fact that Apple doesn't mention. In G mode - the 4 drops the connection frequently. Sitting next to the 4 is my 3GS which seems to hold the connection just fine. Sometimes the whole wifi set of bars on the 4 disappears altogether.
