Iphone 4 keeps freezing up

This could be the New IOS4 but I have had several instances where someone was trying to call me and it would not let me answer the call. Screens keep freezing on me and the synchronization of when it turns off the screen is all messed up.

Anyone else having this issue?

What's up with this Iphone 4. My phone has been worthless for about the last 2 months. It freezes up, drops calls for no apparent reason, people call and I answer and they can't hear me but I can hear them fine(Same thing when I make calls). I love the iPhone, but this iPhone 4 has been nothing but a disappointment. I've tried everything from reinstalling the OS, to calling ATT having them reset whatever it is they reset. I'd go to an Apple store but I don't want to hear a bunch of BS and a run around. I take great care of the phone so it isn't neglect. It's like there's a ghost in the machine. Anyone have any thoughts?

So this thread doesn't offer much by way of solutions and I wanted to add my complaint to the many here, and to over 19000 people that have looked at this thread looking for an answer.

Anyone at apple want to chime in on the freezing screen? I have the newest os and iTunes. Phone freezes quite often where the screen won't register anything so I can't use my phone at all. Restarting occasionally helps but usually not. Restored my iPhone and it did nothing. These issues started with os5.

I too want to add to this. I'm having the same freezing issue when using the slider. I'm also getting the low storage warning, however, I am no where close to having enough data on my phone to use up all of my storage. I have never had this issue before updating to os5. I have the 3G iPhone 4 for Verizon. The freezing is increasing in frequency.

I hope Apple recognizes this issue and gives us an answer!

Restart

Apple foresaw the potential for freeze frustration and built a remedy right into the software. According to the support section of Apple's website, users can force their frozen phones to restart by holding down the home button (the circular button on the front of the iPhone) and the Sleep/Wake button (the rectangular, silver button on top of the iPhone) simultaneously for at least 10 seconds. Continue to hold these buttons until the Apple logo appears.Restarting is also a good solution for other problems, such as an unusually high number of dropped calls or an app that's not running properly. Just as full-sized computers sometimes need rebooting to fix minor glitches, so do iPhones.

This worked!!!!

I have an iphone 3GS, have had since they were first released.

I have now got to the point of being so frustrated with this poxy locking mode that happens when trying to type a text, email,.... anything..... its finally tipped me over the edge and I am dumping Apple for Samsung.

Its taken 2 years to realise just how oppresive Apple actually are in protecting their product.... especially unfriendly is itunes....its absolutely ******* stinks.

Bye Apple, the company is being overtaken very rapidly by Samsung, HTC getting their act together.

My freezing problemis slightly different...i have three email accounts, and all throughout the day/night when i try to click on one account it will randomly freeze up on any one of the three accounts when i try to select one to read an email, and sometimes it will even reset back to the home screen. its really annoying since i rely on these emails for work, and need to respnd quickly, sometimes it will reset back to the home screen 2-3 time. so i have to power it off, and back on again to get it to respond! Please help!!!!!

I was having the same issue with my iPhone 4 and my 3GS. My iPhone 4 was freezing randomly, would eventually reboot itself and work fine for a few days. I did a factory restore, and an iTunes restore, neither of these helped solve the problem. On Saturday 2/25, it froze while I was using the camera, shut itself off and would not come back on at all. I tried everything from iTunes restore (which would not even recognize the phone was there) to hard restore (lock and home button while power was plugged in) NOTHING. I took it back to Apple, and they could not get a response either, luckily it was still under warranty and they replace my phone with a new one. Guess what, it's Monday and this one is doing the same thing.

Hoping that Apple finds a solution to this, kind of ridiculous that you pay $600+ for a phone that has this type of issue. I was considering getting the 4s or waiting for the 5, but with the problems I am having with my current iPhone, I may just go Droid!

Hi Everyone!

Ok...so a few days ago my 64G IPhone 4s froze. My sister(also has Iphone)showed me how the reset it, by holding down the square and power buttons. Although this did unfreeze it, I still had problems where it would stall, always search for a network(even when I knew I was near a WiFi), prevent me from sending and receiving txt messages and phone calls. I went to the ATT store and they replaced the sim card. Said that if the problem continues, go to the apple store and get it replaced. Well, the problem continued...So I went online to the apple website and did an instant chat with "Lynn" and she said that it sounded like a problem with the software. So she told me to do a backup with ITunes. I did this but the problem still continued...So I got this idea, if its a problem with the software, Why don't I just reinstall it?

So what I did was do the back up in both ITunes and ICloud(Make sure I don't loose any of my stuff), then restored to the factory settings(all of this while still connected to the ITunes), then restored all my apps and information. Yes, it took at least, 5-6 hours to perform everything(never did a backup before, and it was 64G), But once I was done.....TA DAAAAA!!!!!

EVERYTHING NOW WORKS PERFECTLY!!!! Just like when I first got it, fast, I can make calls, I can send txts!! EVERYTHING!!

I hope this helps you resolve your problem! So far, I am going on day 2 and so far so good!! 🙂😁😍

I had and have till now again all these problems, no way to come out. Apple has no time to spend with us and with our obsolete model of iphone 😠 (iphone 4).

If it's so, at least let we reinstall an older firmware (unlock old firmwares!!!!), it's a way not expensive for you, maybe your mistake is that you didn't that IOS 7.xx is unable to work on iphone 4 for a medium-long period. IOS 7 is heavy for iphone 4.

must I buy a samsung?
